My two cents (from a player that is not able to put in "the time necessary" to acquire SC weaps as fast as others): I get my arse handed to me quite often when pitted against groups (PUG or premade) who've invested the time necessary to acquire what they have. It is both frustrating and maddening at times.
However, in line with the current system, and my agreement with it, I don't deserve to have that gear yet. And because I'm generally lazy, allowing me to have them without the currently required time investment, would be a recipe for disaster, imo, because I might just complain for even more lenient requirements as I'm, say, leveling my next alt, etc.

I hate losing. I hate not having what "the Jones' have." And without the investment of time currently required, which is fair, I would be gimping myself for end game with a "it's not fair" attitude that would 'bleed over' into my discourses with other players. I'd poison myself and others with an entitlement attitude when I can just as easily, allowing for motivation or lack of it, re-adjust my schedule and invest a bit more time each day to acquiring the currency needed in a bit more 'timely' fashion. I'd also earn the disrespect inherent in having 'the bar' lowered from players who met the original requirements. That doesn't make for long-lived groups/WBs/relationships, imo. I'd rather be without the weaps til I earn them, and respectfully, rightfully 'feared/despised' rather than being ridiculed (behind my back) about my only winning attribute being the handout I got, rather than skill or ability.

This was not printed to oppose the OP, although it seems to do so by default, but to echo his/her pain, wholeheartedly, yet allude to a possible negative side effect of granting their request. I lose either way, lol.

Though I did not play War when it was live, most of my guild from DAOC did (Retribution).

The biggest complaint from the DAOC vets were the enormous chasm in power difference (DPS / HPS) between those that put in the time (RvR, farming, crafting) vs those that just casually played. DAOC gear did not make that much of a difference in RvR.

To me, creating imbalance through gear in a PvP centric game is the biggest insult to the player base that enjoys such a game (PvP centric). Your play should be the defining factor in wining or loosing, rock, paper, scissors class balance not withstanding.

There is a reason that Guildwars is still the best balanced competitive PvP game, even with multiple classes + hybrids and thousands of skills. Hint, it rewards you for playing well, syngergizing with team skills and promotes team play (coordinated spike damage anyone?)

Not sure how the 6v6 is balance wise in this game but from my experience so far, it seems far too gear dependent.

At some point you have to understand that Mythic (and other MMORPG devs) put the carrot on the end of the stick (xp curve, gear gathering and other things) to keep players playing for a longer time (reoccurring revenue). This does not need to happen in this emulator.

I would wager that the community on the whole would rather promote less gear dependence, more 6-12 man roaming groups, and more team play then having gear imbalance. Then again I could be wrong ;)
