Actually, it's not. If this were an official release game, sure. Because the alpha players would make it hell for teh paying customers at release. WIll the devs wipe everything? Maybe. They certainly have the ability, and the RIGHT to do so, as they are the ones who have worked on RoR, and who have a vision for what it should be; if extant toons interfere w/that ideal, they go bye-bye.
Nonetheless, it seems, at this point, like there is no inherent advantage to a wipe, except for those who either don't like not being first in, or who want to follow corporate policy in an indie game because it makes them (falsely) feel savvy and authorized. Maybe there is a very good reason to wipe later but, from where we stand now, it looks kind of pointless, IMO, and like it would just decrease population.
