Lvl reset and obligatory event
Lvl reset and obligatory event
Event should be voluntary not obligatory. I play in the tier and zone which is designated for my char's lvl. Imho lack of any event protection was not players fault but players get punished.

Re: Lvl reset and obligatory event
I was leveling in that zone too at the time, and I wandered into the event as well. After getting kicked from the server twice I took the hint and went back to questing and my level wasn't reset. So it seems to me like there was event protection, and the fact that you fell victim to it is nobody's fault but your own.

Hey mate, i can understand ur sadness, but u should also understand us, who were farming by lowlvls about more then 10 times. we broke up ur sc and rvr group for this event, for fun and some team'chicken' play XD GM said more then about 3 times, that u have to turn into a chicken and go to t1, he also said, that t1 lowbies have to leave the warband or battlefield, to not disturb this event. I think u saw it, we all saw it. Also we told u all to leave this place in /say - chat. Alot of people wrote it in Advice-chat. so that whats going on now with ur char, is that what GM told u if u dont leave.. & u havnt left.gotharg wrote:Event should be voluntary not obligatory. Re: Lvl reset and obligatory event
For the record, quite a few ppl were saying in chat that T1s WERE allowed, and at least one server-wide GM announcement, late in the event, said "Lobie characters should not have pets out in Elf" which directly implies lobies were legit there. If explicit instructions that ran counter to this for some reason were given early in the event, some of us were severely busy in Fest until the lock, dealing w/20-sec lagspikes there as soon as the event kicked off, so maybe we missed a thing or two.frostball wrote:Hey mate, i can understand ur sadness, but u should also understand us, who were farming by lowlvls about more then 10 times. we broke up ur sc and rvr group for this event, for fun and some team'chicken' play XD GM said more then about 3 times, that u have to turn into a chicken and go to t1, he also said, that t1 lowbies have to leave the warband or battlefield, to not disturb this event. I know for a certainty that, in the time (2 wks, I think?) that the event was first posted, I repeatedly checked in on it's thread to see if ANY actual rules were up, but they did not have anything other than flavor text for the event. That flavor text stated the following:
"Since back on live many guilds have taken their members into the lower tiers for just plain fun but this time it will be for everyone to come and have a blast pecking away your enemies one by one."
Note the "everyone" part, being specifically distinguished from "taken their members into lower tiers", thus implying that T1s were legit.
Even then, I heard in /Ad chat that T1s were legit as the event was on, but before I joined it, and later ASKED it after hearing ppl on the other side get riled, to which someone specifically advised yes, and then I read the GM notice abt lobie toons not using pets (which logically implied lobies were OK), so at least some ppl assumed differently than you.
It was, all in all, highly confusing. I feel bad if my T1r messed up someone's day, but seriously, this was a very low-info event w/a lot of conflicting opinions all around. As it played out, the event ended up being a setup for otherwise legit ppl to accidentally get in trouble. Not everyone makes the same assumptions based on limited info. That's why explicit, clearly laid out rules are needed in RL and in games.

Re: Lvl reset and obligatory event
No, it very much is not. For all I knew, it to be a case where chicken toons were granted powerful abilites, or at least normal ones. Or where chickenized ppl got bonuses or rewards if they made it thru. Look at the forum thread and see that ppl were wondering there what it was all going to be about.frostball wrote: okay, man but i think 'Chicken Apocalypse' is self explaining.
I can assure you that for the last 2 months, chickens provided NO RP for me when killed - NONE - ("damage dealt exceeds damage received. No experience granted" or some such message) so I thought this was supposed to just be a fun, no-gains FFA until I started hitting and ruffled feathers then flew. I almost didn't even join, but decided to be sociable and not duck (EDIT: no pun intended) an event, tho I usually do in most games. At 1st, I almost went w/my lvl 25, but figured it might be more fun w/my T1r, as ppl were saying they were allowed too.
Just because something looks one way to YOU, does not make it inherently true for all. That's why languages, rules, and even countries, in some cases, (and certainly states, if you live w/in the USA) exist; ppl have different expectations, have varied perspectives, and so make different assumptions unless rules are VERY clearly laid out; this is how it always has been. As someone who is pushing 50 yrs old, and who worked in and around educational facilities for nearly a decade, I can assure you that instructions need to be VERY clear or any 2 ppl you ask will have 5 different opinions on the same matter. NEVER ASSUME.

Re: Lvl reset and obligatory event
I don't understand how anyone would think it would be more "fun" to one-shot a bunch of chickens than to participate on their level 25 character, SpikyBitz. I also don't understand why anyone would assume that that was the point of the event.

Re: Lvl reset and obligatory event
Because I happen to like that toon I used, whose name means "riot" in old Irish, and figured you wouldn't get more riotous than this, so it was in character for him. I also wasn't 1 shotting. In fact, I got taken dn by chicken swarms and thought it was right in character for the event.magicthighs wrote:I don't understand how anyone would think it would be more "fun" to one-shot a bunch of chickens than to participate on their level 25 character, SpikyBitz. And I didn't assume. I went in hearing ppl say T1s were welcome and figured, therefore, that it was just a FFA, w/some fowling and some not: like a zombie apocolypse, w/some ppl RPing the chickens and some RPing the hapless guys who face the "undead" hordes. Some clarification on the event page would have corrected that.
Anyone assuming that everyone has to come to the same "natural" conclusion, has some learning to do abt real life. If you've ever had, or worked with, kids, or just got into your RL 30s, you probably would not assume everyone gets the same idea off of nearly no info.

Re: Lvl reset and obligatory event
Where was it told? I was there from the start and GM messages specifically said if you're not a chicken, then leave the area.Sulorie wrote:Don't talk bs guys, t1 players were allowed. It was told several times.
In the end, I think it was cross-wires between the GMs since there seemed to be mixed messages (especially that one about no pets.)
I did enjoy it at first, there were loads of funny chat coming from both sides. But then more and more ass-hats (from both sides) started logging their Tier1 toons to join in on the reaping, and I had a enough of being one-shotted by Tier1 toons.
Overall, a great job that the GMs organised. Next time, make it clear who is and who isn't allowed to join in.
