Meh, if you followed the game a bit before launch, you would notice they were not going for Daoc CC quite fast, it was never a selling point of the game to have Daoc CC.
To me what killed the game near release was how rushed it was, not only we had only 2 cities instead of the 6 promised, the two we had were ****, when they released Choppa/slayer they were so much better than the rest of the mdps people were outrageeed they just wasted their time leveling and gearing other classes.
Itemization was a complete mess, things like AM getting healing gear on LV and the RVR equivalent (invader) being for dps, people getting gated out of fortresses with the "get 5 pieces of annihilator or die to pulsating aoe gear check" and extremely frustrated by getting the 12 helmet in a row from the golden keep bag and having to eat it because there was no tokens whatsoever. Fortresses themselves crashing the server. The city PQ being farmed over and over vs no one because defending was a complete waste of your time.
And the balance issues, everyone complains about bomb groups and yadayada but when i first started playing i remember being around level 14 and having to beg tanks that didnt even know what the **** i was talking about for a guard on my archmage because it was the only chance i had to survive a WE jumping on me alone, no detaunt would save you from them back there.
The game needed a year more to be even close to done and much of the systems needed a rework, when people leaved, it was already too late.
