When It comes to DPS in this game it seems like it's dual wield or your another Archetype.
I like the idea of wielding a big menacing 2H Weapon into battle, and doing damage to match it. Is there any class that does this well?
Are there any Dps classes that aren't severely worse off using a 2H over dual wielding?
Are there any Tanks that can get away with using a 2H instead of a SnB as their mainstay? is their damage just tickle damage that doesn't actually contribute? Is it just overwhelmingly better to use a shield and makes no logical sense to use a 2H weapon? Will I be able to be competitive at higher end PvP especially group invites/acceptance?
Does the Warrior Priest Specced properly do "Decent" (respectable damage that might strain a healer) damage as a hybrid healer with Grace?
If you have more in depth analysis based on Running with the Zerg, 6 man groups, solo, at current level cap, T3, Endgame/T4, etc please elaborate where/why they're strong/weak in that area.
Thanks,

Re: Two Handed DPS Classes
Choppas do really well with 2H but they still need a group to do their absolute best. Black Orcs (though I'm afraid to even type this) do well with a 2H as well, with very fun abilities as well that require specifically a 2 hander.
As a side note, AoE specced BW or Sorc also technically have a 2H and run in menacingly into a group of people and bury them 6 feet beneath the dirt.

Re: Two Handed DPS Classes
Every class that can use a 2H has a build that works very well with a 2H, though some of those builds don't always fit the group as well (e.g. Slayer). A WL uses a 2H for his entire career and has insane burst potential. If you want to feel like your damage is always contributing, I would recommend playing a WL, they have a very, very strong Time To Kill, though they lack an incoming heal debuff. Comparable to WL is a Choppa's 2H build.Luftwaffle wrote:When It comes to DPS in this game it seems like it's dual wield or your another Archetype.

Regarding tanks: Every tank has a build for a 2H, some are better than others. Tanks that are notoriously good with a 2H and why: Ironbreaker with Cave-In and GW Mastery, Swordmaster with GW Mastery, crit chance tactic, Wall of Darting Steel. Any Swordmaster build can work well with a 2H, but they really start to shine in T3 with Ether Dance and at 40 with WoDS. Blorc and GW mastery. Chosen with Oppressive Blows, Crippling Strikes and Rending Blade.
For tanks, using a 2H is the only "damage" build for them, as they don't have a dual wield option, so they don't get an offhand weapon's dps contribution to their attacks. If you want to do damage with a tank, a 2H is almost always the choice (but not always). Keep in mind that as a tank, your role ALWAYS revolves around using Guard. Guard damage can not be mitigated as it is 50% of the damage taken by your Guarded buddy. However, Guard can be Blocked or Parried, so if you use a 2H, it's very advisable to have a good amount of parry chance so you don't RIP to Guard damage all the time.
Regarding Warrior Priest: ARM!

Re: Two Handed DPS Classes
I've played a Chosen and a Black orc till rr7x on live and I'd say that 2h tanks are viable as long as you keep using your tanky abilities like guard and challenge and don't spec into a glass cannon.
I also suggest using the archetype toughness tactic at most times since you have to be tougher than mdps to justify that 2h you're wielding. Remember that you're not a main damage dealer — you're supposed to provide support to your teammates in first place.
I've played in 6 mans mostly and our tanks usually ran a 2h mdps support setup. I might be wrong but I think that SnB survivability setups are mostly for oRvR where you gotta mitigate all that damage which randomly comes from who knows where. In smaller scale SnB guys don't get a lot of attention from enemies which doesn't go in line with pvp tank concept imo.
I haven't played a WP past T3 but I think that a melee dps setup is mostly for solo roaming — by switching to a dps setup you lose more usefulness than a tank who drops SnB in favor of a 2h.
Choppas (had one rr7x as well) seem to do just fine with a 2h also. I'd even say that it's mostly about your personal preference — 2h or DW. Some math might prove me wrong though

Re: Two Handed DPS Classes
Yeah i wouldn't say i got as far in terms of RR as Casey, but i played 2h chosen (Rending/Quake) on live up to RR50 i think, utilize your guard, challenge, nockbacks etc and you're viable in the group, your guard target loses out a bit of survivability, but in return you get another person that can add quite a lot of pressure.

using opressing blows and undefendedable AoE spirit dmg You can use it to proc crippling strikes
but i dont like 2h on chosen you lose acess to you kd if you go dread/discord and cannot take mixed defenses or destined for victory
only tank that 2h is "viable on" on destro i.e use 2h without giving up too much is blorc in my opinion
bg loses their 5 sec kd

Re: Two Handed DPS Classes
Thank you for the responses, in particular though. I have leveled a Chosen to cap and the farthest I can get down the tree is relentless with no other options. I am looking to do something like the build Coryphaus laid out, but I can't until T3/More levels are released. Is it still viable at current cap? Or is it more advisable to wait for the cap to rise, because I see the synergy with Parry,Oppressive blows (crits), Crippling strikes (reduced Inc dmg after crit) and Rugged (toughness Tactic) but can't utilize 1/3 of it.
That's why I was looking to roll another class as well, whom doesn't have all of their potential gated until T3/T4 while I wait, or if I like the class play it as a main after cap is raised as well.

Re: Two Handed DPS Classes
From what I remember (RR7x Choppa) 2h was really fun, especially 2 shotting zergling AMs and SWs. It was a lot more demanding than DW though, and you needed to get the debuffs up quick. Either that or my memory is useless.CaseyJones wrote:Choppas (had one rr7x as well) seem to do just fine with a 2h also. I'd even say that it's mostly about your personal preference — 2h or DW. Re: Two Handed DPS Classes
On BO you lose YSMBD which lets you build Morale really fast. I used to run with a Chosen that had DfV and we had M4 ready whenever we needed it.Coryphaus wrote:http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=cho ... 0:;0:0:0:0:

The only thing you gain from going 2H on BO is DBU (AoE attack) and GaBC (extra damage and parry with a GW).
Imho, best 2h tank on destro (in regards of not losing much when going 2h) is Chosen, followed by BO, and finally BG (5 sec KD is simply TOO good and it is a crime not to use it).
