Its true that SM isnt as useful as other tanks, but if you enjoy playing SM over the others then you definiately should stick to it. You will still find groups , only really few hardcore parties wouldnt accept SM.

I posted a lot of my reasoning in page 7 of here:

http://www.returnofreckoning.com/forum/ ... rt=60#wrap

...but I think that the SM is not as good as the IB or KotBS, but can serve a unique purpose asn an MDPS assits and off-dps. However, like people said, you should play the class you enjoy, and play to the best of your archetype as grumcjs mentioned above.

If you are having problems finding a guild to use you.
Find our guild Old School. We got a spot for you. A sm can really help and we don't need cookie cutter groups to cut down the elitests.

No, when people talk about balance on the forums it is almost always in the context of a hyper competitive meta that just doesn't exist in this game, not on live... and not here. There is no MMR or Rank system, no ladder, no tournaments officially sanctioned or otherwise. Just casual scenarios and ORvR. That is not an insult towards the game, just saying that it's not hyper competitive or "E-Sports" which would require you to follow a strict meta.

As long as you have mic and vent/TS 99% of guilds will take you in unless they already have a very strong core and they don't need anyone else.

SM isn't terrible, just when compared to IB/KotBS they are in most cases not the best option.

Find a class you like aesthetically and play style wise and stick with it, this game has a bad tendency to ruin people who like to roll alts :^)

The SM will break your heart. It is a beautiful class with interesting mechanics and ofttimes fluid moves that look iconic and cool. It has cool looking equipment and a really heroic look. And none of that matters.

Not true. If you like that thing then it matters. But stats wise it is something of a void and you will witness Knights and Iron Breakers doing things of which you can only dream. Other classes will do you under in some truly demoralizing ways because you just don't have the tools to overcome them. It will become easy to despair that this class, which has such visual potential and possibility, will never be even a fraction of what some other classes are just by virtue of existing.

Plans are in the works to add something to the SM(and BO) to make it more of a team player but that is a T4 kind of thing. It will probably be something that makes the knights and dwarfs even cooler. That's about the way things go for the elves.

If you love the SM and the way it exists on the screen, if you love the idea of an ancient swordsman trained in crafts from a forgotten age, if you want a poem of steel and edges on the field...

the SM will break your heart.
