Re: Nerfed buttons
The problem isn't NB. The problem is the game having a bunch of skills that are only very slight variations of one another. One skill does 100 damage another does 100 damage and plus 10 strength with a cooldown. This isn't removing decision making; it is removing tedious actions. And as Jaycub said before, it isn't responsive enough to give you an advantage. Relying on it is a disadvantage and it only simplify things.

Re: Nerfed buttons
Here's a fun thought! This is your venture and there is no market pressure, nothing says you have to follow the “rules”.
Alter the login servers to require an extra piece of information, say the encrypted account name concatenated to the local date or something like that. And this info is provided by... an executable that you cook up. It goes into the WAR directory and automates login or you log in with it and it starts the client. Without it, no log in.
This executable also lets you look at and control the contents of that folder. Don't like an addon? ZAP! Its gone. Now you can control the client without changing the client.
Its functionally the same thing that ARC or Steam does.

Re: Nerfed buttons
Name something that it does that you couldn't do otherwise AND is makes is more than marginally better. These small improvements are nothing compared to positioning, group coordination, and knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your class. Also it makes you less able to react properly because it chooses which spell you think is best beforehand rather than the present.bloodi wrote:Not even you believe that.xavra42 wrote:Relying on it is a disadvantage and it only simplify things.

Even if it makes you 0,1% better, is a problem.xavra42 wrote:Name something that it does that you couldn't do otherwise AND is makes is more than marginally better. Of course it doesnt make you a good player but the fact that it makes you better at all, being an addon, is a problem.
Re: Nerfed buttons
I agree that's one of the craziest arguments I've heard.Azarael wrote:I can't even begin to fathom this argument.
So because NB requires some setup time, not to exceed the span of a few hours, let alone a day, it justifies giving players such an edge?
Using that logic, you could say the same about cheat programs like Warbuddy. They took the time to set it up, so it's alright to cool down, speed, stat, ect hack
Re: Nerfed buttons
It's about making you on par with example A. - A better player who has the foresight to manage his healthbar and drink a health potion to save his life. Nerf Button player who doesn't really watch his health bar can set the mod to watch his healthbar for him and drink a pot when he's low on health, bypassing any awareness of the situation or gameplay. The rare disadvantage is when player B only needed 1 more insta to get his kill, but instead Nerf Buttons thinks he should drink a potion instead, and he misses out on a killing blow.xavra42 wrote:Name something that it does that you couldn't do otherwise AND is makes is more than marginally better. It brings bad players up like 30-50% in effectiveness, but skillcaps them to being a robot and slave to the strings. There's endless poissibilities to triggers such as a bright wizard getting a buff to make his next spell insta, and nerf buttons casts a free fireball for him, but without the mod this is actually one of the most pro playstyles for a BW to play and it's rarely used due to the amount of awareness it takes. There's adcantages everywhere if you are creative enough or lucky enough to get strings from somewhere else made by good nerf button authors.
Word of Pain and Boiling Blood are no longer able to proc anything. The Bright Wizard College has confirmed this is a big deal. (stealth nerf)

Re: Nerfed buttons
I still don't get why some people think NB is some kind of boogie man, I always see newer/bad players blame NB when they get blown up by BW/Sorc lol.
It literally cannot raise the skill ceiling of a class, only lower it. All it does is raise the skill floor for players with bad mechanical skill, game knowledge, etc...
If you have over 500 hours in this game and you are still using NB to do rotations for yourself you are dogshit, and i know a lot of people are going to read this and its gonna hit home :^)
I still think positioning (movement), proper targeting, risk management, communication, etc... become more important in this game than rotations and mechanical skill (the 2 things NB governs).
NB only makes bad/new players better at the game I promise you.

Re: Nerfed buttons
NB can manage reading buffs and debuffs against yourself, as well as on your target, making it possibly increase a player's actions above those of regular player who can't look at everything all the time. So your point is incorrect. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. The only disadvantages are probably things a NB user wouldn't have even noticed with or without it.
