Popular IB Builds in 2026

Hi all!

Rerolling with my brother on Order and I got curious about the Ironbreaker. I love tank classes in general and big ol’ hammers just sound like what I need in my life.

That said, I haven’t seen many recent posts about builds around the class. I’m curious about what everyone is rolling these days! We’ll likely duo roam, but we’re also going to be active in small- to large-scale WB fun.

Personally I like 2H but will grind for both to be versatile when needed, so if anyone has any builds that their rolling and are willing to share, that would be awesome!

IB has really stronk single target buffs for melee.

IB is a little unique in that whether 2H or SnB doesn’t have a huge change in your abilities, as your main buffs can be used with either.

Each load out has a KD and your root is a core ability as well. You should, in either build, try to bring AoE snare as well (Earthshatter).

From there, 2h provides more single target dps while the shield provides avoidance.

Personally, I much prefer shield. While 2H’s cave-in is great and all, the vast survivability provided by block plus earthshatter as a ranged(getting within 25 ft of goblins)/AoE snare is very strong in this range/kiter/WE that can disengage from anything, meta. You also get Hold the Line from shield.

With shield go mid-tree up to shield mastery (unfortunately IB’s 10% block skill is tied to a high cost tactic but I view it as essential). Get the parry buff, then earth shatter, and then when you have the rr rank, go left tree for crit buff.

If you do go 2H, keep in mind that you are a tank first and foremost and will need all the parry and disrupt/dodge that you can get.

My 2 cents, always go shield. If you want a 2h tank, KOBS and SM bring more to the table.

2H IB has good DPS and is sometimes requested when I join premade SC parties, so I think it's something you should have, but compared to other tanks, there aren't many things that make IB unique.

Well, IB is very flexible in terms of builds and got no single mastery spec which outperforms rest by default nor able to fit all the goodies into one spec either so better give additional info - what class you plan to duo with? will you form up 6mens for SCs or q as duo? oRvR you will run pug or join something decent? Whats your RR?

as for largescale snb orvr you either run:
- before full sov trispec of crit + parry + block tactic + aoe snare (with +2 you grab snare Immunity and absorb); also an option to go for ap pump tactic if needed, then either skip crit and take both ap pump and block + snare immunity or skip block and get crit and bog if you are in melee group
- with full sov skip crit and go parry + snare immunity + block tactic + punt immunity + absorb + aoe snare + ap regen tactic
- with full sov skip crit and go parry + snare immunity + block tactic + BoG + absorb + aoe snare + ap regen tactic
* - if warband has enough LtCs than can go blissful but +2 is incredibly valuable for IB so better force someone else into blissful, ideally kotbs.

as for smallscale snb you run (in melee groups obviously):
- before full sov trispec of crit + parry + BoG + aoe snare + absorb + ap regen tactic (with +2 you can grab speed buff tactic and something else to your liking); makes sense to run full blissful dark promise in this build

as for 2h you either run:
- classic trispec, nothing changed
- GBF with 13/5/5 or 13/0/9, no changes here
- with +2 warlord if undergeared you can run 11/5/9, alot has changed detaunt now also detaunts you too so i dont recommend. with +2 alt sov you can do same 11/5/9 but you will be lacking defense significantly

2h depends on how you gear, you can gear by equiping each piece with parry (besides chest obviously) either thru 2 DP (chest gloves) or 2 triumph (chest gloves) or even 2 alt sov (also chest gloves) here. You can go with various alt sov/warlord/vic mixes. You can literally go with full warlord but dont expect to do any reasonable assist dmg. All in all, depending on what your party goal is you either build defensive or offensive. For duo you just go with regular regen mix (alt sov, warlord, vic, sent).

gearing, building tactics etc for different encounters are also highely situational so to help you out need more info as im not in a mood to write full guides. tactics pick depends on your party/warband playstyle. for regular pugging as snb you better off with block+block+ap regen+toughness tactic preset. for regular sc pugging 2h you go with toughness/sos+crit+riposte+snare/juggernaut

usually in small scale with proper groups people nowdays run SnB in new blissful gear and go trispec with BoG, its least demanding casual gameplay.
