just remove warcrest and let ppl get their weapon, gear and jewel according to the renown rank.

Low retention is exactly because there is no carrot to go beyond 80 RR. And if you farmed all the way to 100RR, you deserve to have a bit more powerful, cool appearance weapon.

Barriers like crests, ward unlocks and so on feel like a pain, but without hurdles to jump, where's the sense of achievement? I think linking gear to renown would feel cool initially, but quickly undermine the sense of progression. Not to mention devalue dungeon content.

Its about the journey with MMOs imo. I find that once im fully geared out, I actually lose interest, have a bunch of geared 80s now many of which I no longer touch but played each avidly as I was progressing to sov. That goal of reaching endgame gear is the carrot on the stick, but when you reach it, I think I quickly get bored and move on.

Yeah definitely see that too. It's a tough balance between enticing new players in and retaining vets. How do you keep both in check? Maybe stronger horizontal progression over gear upgrades.

No. This idea of yours is one of the main reasons live failed. It's bad enough that you have people in R21 gear fighting people in Sov with fort weapons or BS LV weapons and gear, going higher is a death blow to the game. Go sideways ... it could be more fun. Lifetap weapons for dps. AOE dmg weapons for healers. Crit dmg bonuses for tanks. :)

Well retention come also with the goals you're giving to vets, i'm not sure that giving some "a bit better weapons" to a few high rr will change the outcome for newcomers tbh. Newcomers are already fresh meat for the organized sov geared vets.

That's exactly the point, reaching rr90/100 is something that deserve at least a little bit of verticality, that is some effort and dedication that deserve a reward, i said "no big gap, and make some interesting procs" sounds pretty horizontal but the goofy ones still complains..

I mean, it's not like we're gonna push it farther and ask even more verticality after that, like then asking more powerfull items for rr150 LOL, whos reaching 150 now ? never

I agree that new apperance skins ( armor, weapon skins) should be available to rr 80+ players. In fact this game is quite stagnant once you reach max and finish grinding the 10k jewelry item.

There are many cool skins seen on NPC's( like in Karak a karak etc) that looks better than anything players can wear ( those winged Dwarven helmets etc).

Having said that, introducing ''a real powercreep'' with stats etc needs to be very carefully considered, i don't think that would be a good idea tbh with the brackets of T2-T4 merged and increasing the gap further between casuals and veterans ( at least not without first making lower lvl items more powerful).

Realistically, rr 90+ weapons could be a thing if the lowest armor was Vanq gear starting at rr 40. ( there was an excellent post regarding that some time ago)

Stats on it a bit better than Fortress's ones, no huge gap, interesting procs, 2 versions of weapons per rr step, one for main spec, one for offspec (example dps version for dps's tanks/healers, also a Tanky version for the dps)

no huge gap between rr85 and rr90 procs, but rr100 ones might be something that make the difference.

Might use appearances already in game, maybe stuff that is on guards/npcs but not in the actual obtainable gear table.

Could be also the actual endgame weapon's appearance, but with some particles effect added (maybe it's less work to design idk)
This price are very nice. I'm close to RR90 and if i didnt waste a lot of War Crest on silly things i must saved around this ammount of War Crests

I hope someday the devs release new armor set and weapons for players over 85+. Maybe this will do the players stop playing after reach 80 and full sov and expand the live of the players to RR85+ :mrgreen:
