Few newbie questions :)

Hey guys, new here, just downloaded the game.

Was super excited to discover the WAR is still alive, I never got to play it the first time around although my clan from Age of Conan did.

Now, if you'd be kind enough to answer a few questions, that would be great.

I've always played a tank/tankish char, in DaoC, AoC and most SP RPGs as well. I'm hesitating between an IB and KotBS. What are their pros and contras? I am looking for someone viable in PVP, some class that can kill one on one if needed and can help the group.

Is hybrid approach viable? As in off-tank, MDPS? Or are they capable enough of burst and taking peeps down specced defensively? (I understand that's a choice of a path?). What attributes do I level up?

Also are their guilds active? I play out of Western Europe but mostly late, late at night so I'd be looking at US times. Mature, non-leet speak people would be ideal, I don't mind light RP if needs be.

Thanks in advance guys. (and to the developers, thanks for doing this!)

No dont lozmdps if you want to tank then play a proper tank, you squander the potential of the class, if you want to dmg people play slayer or another true mdps

Now for pros and cons:

KOTBS
Kotbs is an imba op class that stands head and shoulders above every other tank in the game, it is the best defensive tank in the game with a lot of extremely strong grp abilites like 20% grp crit chance and 15% uncleansable Hdebuff their really are no cons to this class, you dont even need to stack str or ws to do dmg b/c of the rune fang tactic

This class is really over the top and i hope the devs nerf the class bring it back in line with the other tanks.

IB

IB is a very rock solid all around tank, very durable and has a lot of strong single target buffs, very durable but can dish out some srs dmg once it has its grudge going

If your looking for ordo guilds the 2 that i suggest are Dragons of Eternity or Shadows of Divinity both are a mix of europeans and americans mainly and both are very active in scs and rvr and communicate through vent and stuff

If you want an order tank that can win most of his 1v1 fights then go with a KotBS (talking strictly about T4, not sure about T2).

There's a lot of active guilds out there, I would look on the forums and see the guild posts and maybe you'll find one that you're interested in.

KotBS is the best "tank" in the game, and has access to more group buffs/utilities than any other class which makes it very popular in groups. IB can deal more damage, and has access to debuffs and buffs the knight doesn't have, so it's a good choice for the second tank in any group.

Tanks can go hybrid to a point, but you will never be picked up for a DPS position over a real DPS. Generally you will want to be just tanky enough to be the last one to die, but at the same time deal as much damage as possible.

You should just choose which one you like best thematically, both are viable and good at all points in the game.

thanks man, thats's some solid info.
haha, yeah, I've read a bunch of threads and noticed some people claiming KotBS is a bit imba.

any particular way to build a Knight? things to look out for skill/attributes wise?

oh, and thanks for input everyone :D

-always use shield
-pass 90% time to snare
-Learn to use guard and swap it
-Learn to KB
-always run 3 auras
-toughness > wounds

:D

bit seriusly exept for tactic on first path you wanna focus on 2nd and 3rd path when you will have mastery point. That said there are still no renow points avaible for the moment so builds are bit limited to equip and to those 6 points at renow rank 30 you can spent in mastery point.

http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=kot ... 4:;0:0:0:0:

When playing in a grp this is the basic set up, the remaing 10 points you can distribute how ever you want, one thing i suggest to consider is getting vigilance -25% dmg is a small price to pay for 50% dmg reduction

for right now if you want to know how to spec in the current state of ror:

http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=kot ... 9:;0:0:0:0:

you slot coordination + runefang with out rr points you have a 10% block and +15% parry chance and that is the highest block and parry of any class in the game atm cause of the lack of rr points; slap a guard on some one can you can easily get block > parry procs meaning ez runefang procs for days
