Linux - Pop!_OS - Launcher freezes every time

So, I folowed these install instructions exactly viewtopic.php?f=4&t=35023 using the installer downloaded for Linux, used the linked Lutris install to install it, worked fine. But then upon launching the game, the launcher comes up, appears to begin updating, and then freezes. I changed the runner, it opens, freezes. Change the runner again, it doesn't open. Change back to the default runner, it doesn't open. Tried reinstalling 3 times with these exact same results.

Not sure what the problem is here but this has wasted about 2 hours of my time, I think

Okay, deleting the user config files somehow fixed the launcher, even though I don't recall having a config.

Whatever, that worked!
