At this point we are only speculating. Not to further derail the discussion: I agree with you that only replacing barriers with guards won't fix the game mode, and I agree that playing objectives should be just as rewarding as killing. Overall, I also agree with what hazmy said, but ill also add my own two cents:

Currently there simply is no meaning in all of it. There is no reason to win an rvr zone or a scenario. The only driving factor is killing - in both game modes. Most people would rather zerg than actually advance the campaign or play scenario objectives. What players really need is a goal.

And ofc in order to be enjoyable, lets also update the sc queueing system.
I completely agree. They need to completely change RvR and SCs, to what I don't know but what we have currently is boring.

Some experimentation is needed. Maybe massive increase in rewards for playing objectives, massive decrease in rewards for zerg/spawn killing in rvr and sc. Winning the campaign should have massive rewards as well.

If it doesn't work, revert it.

We've had sundry, "Scenarios broken," threads over the past few years. We haven't heard much back from the team. Still I have to imagine that they are aware of the various issues surrounding scenarios. Barriers, match-making, inexplicable guard placement, quitter, lack-luster rewards for losing, lackluster rewards for playing to the objectives. Scens have been broken for so long, and it won't get attention until after Lost Vale, and the Chosen/Kotbs rework.

Ranked scenario is to blame for all of this. It needs to be jettisoned as soon as possible.

I got a reply from max earlier this year where he said that they are aware. If i remember correctly a scenario rework is something that is planned, but yeah i guess summertime and dungeon release is on a higher priority atm, which is fine ofc.

The problem is that scen mode is barely surviving, currently you got wait time even at prime time for weekend scen. That much ppl dont want to play it. And there are many ppl, even whole guilds that dislike orvr, they do play exclusively scens but with this pop rate and level of competition they just quit.

Scen changes are quite an emergency and need something to be change asap

What does ranked have to do with normal scenarios?
It hasn't been popular for years now and is a completely different scenario vs normal as it's 6v6 with voice comms, full sweat mode brawl with no real objectives no matter if it's soloque or premade v premade. And the soloq forces 222 with max 1 rdps only vs otehr rdps and was even cross realm in season 3 to make it pop more to avoid only Slayer/WL and Sorc/SH in que situation and I'd guess it still it probably still is.
