What's truly funny to me about this statement is that originally renown gain would lock in the first three tiers, as would experience in the RvR lakes, forcing players to gain the experience to move to the next level, tiers 2, 3, and 4, by playing the PvE parts of the game, at least a little bit. If you wanted to do nothing but RvR, there were a couple of full time open RvR servers, where you could get ganked the second you set foot out side the war camp.
I can't help but think that this post was written by someone who was in Pampers at the time.

This is simply false. On Live PvE was an afterthought until land of the dead was released, you were supposed to level and gear up via RvR, city and SC's as the best weapons were locked to SC currency and the best armor was locked to RvR/city currency, the only exception was some off sets were dungeon locked.

Not in 2008 when the game started, LOD didn't exist then, it was still being worked on. Even then, tier 4 was a grind for newly minted lvl 40s. The beta testers kept their topped out rank when it went live, and they ganked on the newbees. Nothing's seemed to have changed in that aspect. The complaints are the same, and still valid. The only noticable change is how much easier it is to zerg now thanks to discord.

Exactly. The whole thing that attracted my friends to live in the first place was that they could play the entire game in PvP and didn't have to do any "Boring [redacted] pve."

Right? This server has really jumped the shark with all the PvE. At no point should you get any BIS gear via PvE in this game.

You don't NEED to do any PvE though, you can 100% play PvP and just be fine.

You dont have to do any PvE if you dont want to, you can go the full way with PvP and buy all the sets for crests, wich is even more easy these days, because you only got one kind of crests for everything, not like specific crest for specific armor, or weapons. You crying here, that live server was better in this way? It wasnt! the grind was even more long and painfull. You can start farming the crests for your endgear in T1, cause they are the same crests. How luxurious is that? You really got no point here...

There litereally is no BIS gear from PvE. All BIS gear is PvP Equipment. PvE sets just give you the opportunity, to be competitive on a very low renown level, and it gives you the wards for the high level sets, without grindig / wasting all your crests for low level PvP set. Oh yea, what a bad thing.....

Sorry but the bullshit-meter of all these post reached the red area...
PvE became just some kind of short cut. There is no force, no need, no pushing, to do PvE. It just can save you a lot of time, and frustration, cause you can avoid to join the RvR with a very low level PvP gear. But you dont have to d anything

onslaught is not bis. 5/4 is the most common engdame build.
you only need 1 BS run to get your bloodlord wep. and you can still carry with 2 fortress/2 scen

Problem isn't PvE gear, the problem is how bad and awful conqueror and vanq set is.
