Increase War Crests from kills for RR80+

I am rr81 and i still have yet to get my sov / warlord sets... because this toon is before city was even implemented in the game and I wasted most my crests getting invader and vanq before, and whatever i had left did not transfer well it seems now i still have a huge long grind ahead of me to get sov, warlord, and tri along with a 10k jewel piece... the grind is ridiculously long n my toon will be RR100+ before i get these..... which is nuts considering before you did 10 - 20 , forts,keeps and you can afford a set now u have to grind over 500 forts citys and keeps to get to the sets---- 40 crests from keep, 60 crests from fort, 80 crests from city crests out of bags is pretty low sure you get more from killing people but with people swapping every week one week you end up with barely 500 crest gain for the entire week ... so in a entire month you'll do barely get 3k crests...... a month of grinding daily.....in a game that revolves now around zerging these days. Maybe do 100 keep 200 fort 300 city and 150 LOTD would help the grind be less grindy and maybe increase the amount of crest for higher RR80+ characters and maybe increase the ammount you earn when youve reached rr80+ from all kills you contribute to aswell. in 3+ months of every day playing to get a full set is just nuts, and then on top of that you need to grind another 3 months just for 1 jewelery piece that adds a overpowered proc mechanic.... considering newer toons can take huge shortcuts and get it way before that and then still have enough to grind to 80 just to wear it.

500 crests weekly looks low(for EU prime time)...

150 from rvr week
75 + 50(5 wins) from week end sc event

225 from weekly events

2 forts have blue quest with 3 day cd and 50 crests reward - at max 200, in reality 50-100 from those quests on weekly basis

+ crests from kills
+ crests from zone locks
+ crests from forts
+ crests from zone bags(with .bagbonus system gold is not unique 8-16-24-32-40)
+ crests from fort bags(not stable, but 12-24-36-48-60)

At EU prime time, in pug wb you must get more then 500 per week overall. If you play 2-4h daily and only pvp.

9999 ring, as I understand, just a final grind reward(carrot) for grind based players and for casual players it's better to "Don't think about it"(c)Rick and Morty.

By my own stats on almost useless for wb WH(which get it's 40 lvl 3 days ago) ~66 crests per hour, it's near to 1 300 weekly... But it's EU prime time and ungeared toon with lack of utility for wb, with better gear and on better class it would be more.

It's still a problem thats "save all crests for the end game gear from lvl 1" is a best strategy and transfer for old toon was devastating...

I vote for making green quest "kill 50 enemy in a rvr lake to get 20 crests" into blue with 18h cd.

P.S. one KotBS from guild get 1000+ crests daily on last event and he was 75-, I don't know how long his play sessions were, probably 7-8 hours, but it's much faster then 6 month of grind to get BiS.

Crest acquisition rate feels about right though for me, seem to have enough as I hit the RR thresholds as you go through the gear sets, almost perfectly.

Can't have gear acquisition be too quick, MMOs are about the journey, often when you reach the destination you lose interest quickly, at least I do!

I feel this. Was holding onto a majority of my crests while leveling, had ~9k remaining after buying some filler (invader) pieces at RR76, then lost them ALL after a server restart. Didn't finish earning them back/completing my sov set until RR81! That took 4-5 weeks with the amount of time I could play. While I want to continue that character for a alt/2H set, I've lost all motivation.

9999 replica ring was well within sight, then the carpet was pulled under my feet and told tough luck.

Average grown person (with work in office) has 2h of free time every day + 2h because I work at home and don't spend time to road trips.

MMO is the greediest games to playtime, lack of free time - flag to play into something else or be ok with turtle progression speed.

If it's a long trip - you wait something epic at the end, but BiS vs pre BiS - not so huge diff according to time investment

yeah fair enough, if you spend all your free time every day on RoR, more power to you. There was a time when I would do that.

So, I hit RR80 on my BO on boxing day, and completed my first sov set the day afterwards, leaving me with no crests. I purchased every single main PvP set whilst leveling, didn't save anything via PvE.

Since then (so, 2 months), I've managed to grind out pretty much BiS 2hander set for my BO. 3 off-sov, 5 warlord. I play mostly solo, and solo snb BO sucks for crests! Switched to 2h once I hit 3 off-sv / 2 warlord and crest rate increased a lot. I average 15-20hours per week. AND I've been ranking up my shammie at the same time. So, I've gone from rr80 to rr82 and completed a whole BiS gearset. I fully expect that by the time I've hit rr83, I'll probably have the remaining pieces of gear I want (fort 2h, 2 more off-sov). THEN, and only then, will I think about grinding the 9999 jewel.


Is it a grind? A bit. Like everyone, I wish I could have gotten gear quicker.

But, do the weekly RvR for the rewards. Do the weekly event SCs for the rewards. That's pretty much all I do, and once I've completed them, I switch back to my shaman. Between the extra bags, zone locks, and fort quests, I can get between 700 and 1400 crests a week on my time scale and playstyle.


Some of it is luck.

If you're not online when forts happen, you can't complete the quests for free 50 crests.

If you're not online when zones lock, your contribution might be less, and you miss bags / free crests.

I have found that this game definitely rewards time spent. As in, its more productive to have a single 3hour session, than three 1 hour sessions. You can contribute more meaningfully during that 3 hour session and get more crests from the zone locks, higher chances on good bags etc.

You really aren't owed any BiS gear. If you want all the PvP gearset combos (i.e. 6 Sov/3Vic) then it should take some time. Its not like full sov is bad and, in some cases like shield tank, is a better choice than mixing. My SM is RR87 now and basically has no use for crests anymore with all PvP sets purchased. My RR82 DPS AM is on the brink of that.

I will say there are some severe imbalances to crest acquisition with the most notable being the game is completely, 100% biased towards DPS and damage dealers when it comes to crests.

You want to get crests as a tank or a healer? Find a good DPS buddy.
You want to get crests as a DPS? Do whatever you want.

One of the biggest contributing factors as to why there are so many 2H tanks and DPS healers is the rewards are heavily skewed towards DPS or DPS-like characters.

In your main capital city. I don't know the Altdorf locations, but in IC, its in the main citidel to the north.

There are two quests - one is given by the main chaos ruler on the throne, just north of the sovreign vendors. His quest is to take the empire fort. The other quest giver is a dark elf in the room just to the west of the first quest giver (north west of the sovreign vendors). Her quest is to take the elf fort.

I'm not sure if there is a quest to take the dwarf fortress. If there is, I assume it'll be found in the ork city, but I've never found it nor heard it mentioned by others. But, the dwarf fort is also the rarest, so its less of an issue.


As someone mentioned above, the fort quests are repeatable, on a 3 day cooldown i think. You get to choose between 50 war crests, or 5 genesis crests, so if you're leveling up a new character they can be a good way to get genesis / subjugator gear too.
