How do you combat 20+ years of experience and muscle memory as a caster in WoW and other games? In every single game, whenever you are in line of sight (LOS) of a target, you can cast a spell—even when running away—by jumping and turning mid-air to face the target. In that split second, you maintain backward momentum while also staying in LOS. This is a core mechanic of caster gameplay in every PvP game.
However, for some reason in Warhammer RoR, this doesn’t work. It says "outside cone of fire" even when you are clearly facing the target mid-air. The spell cast animation even starts, suggesting it should work, but it seems bugged. It feels like your position is calculated and "frozen" the moment you jump, which results in this limitation.
This issue makes caster gameplay feel clunky, unsatisfying, and like a huge downgrade compared to other games. Personally, I find casters unplayable in RoR. I don’t remember exactly if this was the case on the live servers, but I think it was. That might explain why I always preferred melee classes, which felt far superior to casters—maybe that’s still the case.
Can someone explain why this is the case? It severely downgrades the gameplay experience. I’ve tried getting some of my friends from WoW to play RoR, and they were initially very hyped about the game. But as soon as they rolled a caster, they all quit because they thought the system was either stupid or bugged. It’s just unplayable for them or me . I would be hooked on this game if movement was on point , but just that single thing is off-putting so much for a pvp game.

It did not work like this in live warhammer and there is no reason for it to work like it does now. This is super annoying and why would you even make a change like this??

I agree with you! Are you purposefully misunderstanding? Any melee skill is usable while you jump(except pounce and sw/sh self kb and this makes 0 sense...) but if its ranged then you cant use instant skills even when you have los? That is demonstrably not true. You can jump and cast if you are facing the target. If you are facing away, you cannot and as mentioned above you couldn't do that on live either. I am not saying it should be changed, but having animations go off like it is supposed to work is another layer of annoying on top of it not working anyway on Live . Either fix the animations or just allow real time tracking of position. Playing mage in wow and bright wizard on Warhammer is literally night and day difference of skill, not just because of spells but also because of movement mechanics. Good mage will be jumping 90% of the time on instant casts, while kiting backwards, in Warhammer all you do is strafe like a bot, you can unbind jump key its useless button for skipping over terrain.Sinisterror wrote: Sun Jan 26, 2025 5:58 pmI agree with you! 100%. Also 1.5s Gcd instead of 1.15s is a big one as well. Gameplay is too slow with 1.5s. Potions and Morales are not off GCD like in Original War. So in RoR it takes 4.5s to use 2 potions and Morale. In AoR it was instant! Because of 1.5s gcd we now have 6 instant skills vs 8 before in 10+ seconds.
