Pets more spesifically WL has been broken for years, i cant find the patchnotes but since they changed WL pet Reaction Time from 2s to like 02s or someting very fast. Im not sure if i remember this right, so might not be called reaction time but when this patch happened you could bug out the pet if you stood on something that you can walk over but the pet just never got to you and bugged out.

There is stupid restricions with X- and Y-axis like you cant use pounce if you jump BUT literally any instant melee skill can be used in air. These x y-axis restrictions are on the pet as well im sure and this also kills the pet.

And i dont even remember what happened first, but changin Gcd from 1.15s to 1.5s Hardcapped which means 2 instant skills less in 10+sec. Also i feel like this broke the pet and the game in weird ways. I could Cast on many chars when i clearly didnt have Los, and i could spam someone in scs who was behind and def not in los but the next sc Los worked like it should.

If im right then changin the reaction time and less harsher x-y restricions on all pets but espesially WL. I think 2s reaction time means that when you used attack on Wl pet + Pounce to keep wall pet is there with you and you can use all the things on Wl pet+coordinated strike and wl pet because 2s reaction time skips animations to keep up with latest but all the effects/skills pet did.

Im really just trying to understand how and why it is like it is now vs 2017 when it worked as good if not better than Live War Aor! Please correct me or inform if i have missunderstood something

I don't know the code so I can only hypothesize.

They reduced the pet despawn due to leash range so pets couldn't go inside keeps anymore. This may have broken something else with how the pet does Pathing and uses NavMesh.

Other changes were made that drastically reduced a pet's ability to respond to any given command. This *may* have been done to reduce Macro abuse for insane burst and damage. The result of this is that we all left our pets on Passive. A pet on Passive would not path and would simply stick to the owner however they moved, ignoring other rules. Pets on Passive would also respond promptly to Attack and Follow commands.

As it is now, Squig pets seem to only take any action while the Master is standing still so they are basically useless. I have a hunch that something is also broken with stat inheritance as even when they aren't randomly dying to leash range, they are dying to any amount of damage.

In addition, Pets no longer have the owner's name. Previously you would see <Oochoo's Spiked Squig> and now you see <Spiked Squig>. This leads me to believe that Pets simply don't inherit an owner at the moment, which could explain every single issue compared to before the patch. No stat inheritance, inability to take action, random leash deaths, etc.

lol i urge you to play a squig herder for even ten minutes and reconsider your previous comment before ever commenting about pets again

You are doing nothing wrong, pets right now are the worst since 2020 as far as i can tell.
I think Uchoo explained it well.

A few tipps how you can maximzise your pet ability in this broken state:
1. I run Pet assist (addon) and set the pet on passive
(this minimizes the time where the pet wont attack tragets in melee range and has all the benefits of being on passive like rare despawns etc.)

2. You can send your pet in RvR too any non player character without it bouncing back to you afer a few feet. When it reaches the NPC (like a magus pet) you can redirect the attack order and still get pulls off at longe ranger.

3. Spamming the pet attack button like a madman somestimes makes the pet stick to targets which are furhter away than 25 feet. Everything closer than 25 feet should work without big issues if you use pet assist and pet on passive.

4. if your pet is stuck try the stop command and then issue an order, gets the pet unstuck most of the time

I hope this helps. The fix will come eventually

Wl pet is the main reason im taking a break from RoR. When a class mechanic is dysfunctional to the point of being unplayable(broken) that's when my patience runs out.

I understand the team are volunteers but still, leaving the pet in this broken condition is pretty bad by all standards.
