this RR 90 player has played for 8 years grinding his ass off.. so no , I see no issue with it.took me 8 months to get my SoV/WL set.. its called earning not given. And since wanna point me out tell ya more how I struggled. I dont do ANY PvE,Cities,LoTD and I solo... so now what. tell me my advantages

People claiming they want 'fair fights' and poeple showing this kind of attitude are the most toxic for a growing player base. Just because you struggle and need 8 month or play 8 years the same means nothing to others. I got my sov on a toon i didn't play for years now, spread several thousand crests over both factions and toons and couldn't care less about progression of other players as long as they have fun, stay in the game and maybe get few others to join them.
It is not helpful to ask for priveleges for veterans over new or low players, pls think about that. Fair fights means fair numbers in rr and gear but somehow weird parts of this population have some other strange interpretation of fair. It is basically the same discussion about pug vs premade every damn weekend. Why is it fair that you 90+ player in BiS-gear get in the same lake with a lvl 16 in green and blue, maybe purple T1 stuff that can't do anything but get killed by 1 autohit?

I think progression is mostly fine bar the stupid 10k jewelry with decaying talismans. For someone that don't play that much anymore this effectivly locks me to playing one character which is boring.

I think a better solution would be to update the lower sets to reduce powergap. To begin with I would normalise armor values within each category, e.g. set all T4 light armor to sov values.

I definitely think there needs to be some kind of boost, either a frequent event, 2x weekends, or just an across the board bump to rr to make progress more tangible. I can say as someone who struggled to get into this server, by FAR the biggest turnoff when I was starting was the jump from t1 to uncapped t4 rvr where I was suddenly going up against sov. And would be for many, many, many hours to come. Once I figured out that you could just blend into the blob and ride the wave it wasn't so bad, but it would be a lot easier if you could fly through those early ranks to get to a more competitive level more easily. New player retention would be higher and less people would get turned off as soon as they dinged 16 and get killed in half a second by a sovereign white lion. Like, welp, guess this is my life for the next 50 hours.

Keep in mind that this player was grinding for 8 yrs not because he is something better but because devs are hellbent on you grinding your ass off on a private server. A mechanic that solely existed to get more subscriptions out of paying customers and was never needed here in the first place...

Look, what you say is exactly the problem for anyone else but the people who allready did it: You have to grind your ass off in this game. And what is your advantage to got a RR90 char on an empty server? Whats your point to tell new players, how much you struggled to come that far? Do you think that makes the game more atractive and successfull, advertising new players?
"Hey, dont you want to play WAR, you have to struggle a lot and grind your ass off until you are not a victim for 50% of the server anymore, sounds good huh?"
I dont think so... Having 80+ chars by myself, i really dont get the point of this kind of "equality". Why should i want others to suffer from grind like i did? All i want , is more server population with a bigger playerbase, with better SC pop rate and more equal fights in it. Thats the fun in the game, and thats why i still play it.

And we defenetliy have to find a way to make the game more atractive for new and old players if we want to experience a 20 year anniversary... This is an old game. When i try to share it, people are discouraged from the old graphic style allready. The prosopect of eternal grind doesnt make it better. I am sure, we need a more rewarding and much quicker progress in this game. And I think some good points of what could ne done are called here allready:

- reduce the crest cost for equipment.
- rework t4 armor sets somehow, to closing the gap between fresh 40s and endgear chars
- raising the incoming renown, generaly, or maybe with the DAOC system that someone described here, or with more effective renown bufffood or pocketitems
- EDIT: delete the ToK Entry force for armor sets, to make it possible to skip some of them wich players dont want or need.

The activation of armor sets, to get the next armor set, had a reason in the past. What im talking about, is that you have to got the tome entry of full vanquisher set, before you can wear ivader set, and same with invader set before sovereign. That was implemented in the past, to FORCE the poeple into the fortress, and then in the cities. You HAD to do fortress to get invader set, wich only was available there, otherwise you could never wear the sov set.
Now this mechaniec is pretty much obsolet! Nobody is forced anymore to do cities or fortress, so actually that tome entry pressure could be deleted.

That would give players the possibility, to just skip a low armor set, when their Renown is allready high enough to wear a better one. That would also save a lot of crests, and a lot of grinding, and the player is more free in combining sets generaly from begining of T4.

yeah, destructive critic is always expedient... so what is your proposal to make things better? It is just one among other possibilities. And yes, I would prefer green/blue equiped players, who got Sov Gear after one month, instead of players, who leave the game because they struggle to get even close to engear after 6 months. Still the better option. Like you said: "this game totaly needs a lot of people [...] running around t4". True!

Remember, we didnt had that implemented until the fortress was implemented and nobody really wanted - or was able to do it. It was a means of force, to bring people in the fortress, wich failed, and leaded to that many people were stucked in gear, cause progress was barely possible if not not 24/7 online.

X2 will not have the desired effect. For really fast growth and noticeable progress, a new character needs x5, or better yet x10. If a new character requires more than a month to get what he wants, even with intensive play, this already feels like a very long time and many newcomers will not be ready for this. The final formula is simple: the faster a new character becomes a full-fledged RVR participant, the more chances he will continue to be a regular in this RVR. And do not wait for a new one to arrive, who will finish his journey much earlier than he reaches the required level.

The difference is you didn't have to do it against RR80 premades while you were in conq gear.
