The culture of surrendering SC's (
Re: The culture of surrendering SC's (
From the beginning, RoR developers have tried to dictate how players should engage with the game, encouraging actions like “playing SCs in premades” and “forming Warbands,” among other things. However, they need to realize that new players won’t necessarily follow these directives; if the game becomes boring, they’ll simply quit. Currently, RVR and SCs are so focused on group play that solo roamers and small-scale PvP are rare. This lack of flexibility could discourage new players from sticking around.

They could try to add an NPC. For example, there are healers waiting in the queue, add a DPS NPC. And if there are no healers in the queue, then NPC healers etc. Of course, such an NPC should be at the level of the average players waiting in the queue. And when the opposing side enters with a SOV+ team then NPCs should also be SOC+. Who knows, maybe in the age of AI such solutions will be introduced

On live was not so rare high rr and skilled pug to beat avarage premade. But on live you didnt had barriers so pugs could fall back abit and reorganized, you had guards that was one shotting campers and on most maps you had multiple objectives that are open at same time.
Here you got barriers which prevent any meaningfull comeback for weaker team. No guards, or they stay way back so hardly could stop camping and at most scens you had only one open objective so the fight is funnelled at one spot which means hard time for weaker side.
So the current situation looks intended

I was recently in a Ekrund's Gate scenario and it seemed like the guards were well placed forward in the war camp. I might be wrong, but they might have been moved.
Personally I'd like to see a roaming guard that patrols the area adjacent to the WC, but if they've been moved recently that's a good sign.
We tend to forget that this server even existing is a Christmas miracle. Things look bad, but we love this game.

I am shocked to hear devs are deciding how their game should be played, in other games the devs and producers always asks every player for confirmation before writing a line of Code.Brizio wrote: Mon Sep 09, 2024 5:19 pm From the beginning, RoR developers have tried to dictate how players should engage with the game, encouraging actions like “playing SCs in premades” and “forming Warbands,” among other things. Obvously we are comparing how live used to be. And its not their game, its a EA/Mythic game.Very smart comment.Everdin wrote: Tue Sep 10, 2024 7:24 amI am shocked to hear devs are deciding how their game should be played, in other games the devs and producers always asks every player for confirmation before writing a line of Code.Brizio wrote: Mon Sep 09, 2024 5:19 pm From the beginning, RoR developers have tried to dictate how players should engage with the game, encouraging actions like “playing SCs in premades” and “forming Warbands,” among other things. That being said, design by committee is awful, and wouldn't work for WAR. Which is why we are where we are to begin with :^D

So we should ASK EA/Mythic? Or Accept that the people in charge of this project are giving the direction how to play it? We can scream, we can cry, we can leave and they have to live with the consequenzes, but it's THEIR Server, not mine, not yours, not Community property, deal with.
Good news, you've got nearly everything they got when they started, just make it better!

Re: The culture of surrendering SC's (
It's unfortunate but as others have already posted; the game is dead to new life. Who finds enjoyment by joining into a community where the majority of a shrinking community already has everything simply by playing the game for 7-8+ years. It's a tough issue and I can't think of any balanced or fair ideas to solve it.
