Id think this was a great idea if the only way you could get a medallion was by killing players not taking empty keeps.

People will care about the keep if there is 5 Medallions as reward for defending it.
Please, consider that. It's a way to revive RvR !
Without Medallions for defense, we will see people gathering for Keep attack, but leaving the Keep when it's under their control. Why defend it when you can just wait the other to take it and take it right after to get your 5 Medallions ?
It would be impossible to do it with BO as it's soo easy to take it when it's empty, but with such reward for defense I'm sure we will see people caring about keeps.
Because otherwise it would be much more efficient to just farm SC, as you would get SC Emblems and Scout Medallions at the same time.
Please, consider that. It's a way to revive RvR !

What I propose might look like horrible idea that might get messy but still...
What about whole new currency obtained ONLY for killing players (higher chance in orvr, lower chance in scenarios).
That might actually promote some nice fights instead of one sided keep takes. Giving currency for keep defence is actually great idea though u have to understand its easier to defend than to attack. Especially when numbers are almost equal.
So it might promote either
- zerg the keep - no reward for defenders
- both sides turtle in and no1 would attack the lord cuz they would be waiting for defence and tick
- it would migh lead to pve ninja 2nd keep while these players might help attack or defend instead of pve in rvr zone
Also it might be nice to give some PQ sets for that currency as addition to rvr / woe / runescribed gear (and also give more options how to build your character in t2 and in higher tiers in future)
EDIT - is it possible to code something like was on live? there was +% renown bonus gain near BOs and keeps. Would it be possible to make currency drops works like that? - higher chance for fighting near BOs and keeps (and even near flags in scs) to push players to try to fight somewhere else than in wc entrance / spawn ?

I'm not sure if they could code it, but a possible fix for the problem of empty keeps and the disincentive to attack a keep that is being bunkered by a WB or more of the opposite realm is to reward medals based on the amount of attackers/defenders, with a base of 1 and a cap of something like 10.
So when taking a keep that had no one or maybe 2 people defending you would only receive 1 medal, but for every ~5 players up to 45 (max 10) you would receive an additional medal for that attack. And because defense is easier make it 1 medal + 1 for ever 10 attackers up to 40 (5 medals max).

As long as we have Attacks through walls gear token rewards for defence feels problematic
Gear token rewards for captures could work if the rewards are reduced for a dominating side. Being 2-1 should yield 1/2 rewards or less (3-1 ,, 1/3). Else more or less all will be playing one realm at the time. Undefended captures shouldn't yield gear token rewards ever IMHO

What about gear for T1 and t3 when it's released? Or is this gonna be strictly a T2 thing? My one big gripe with this is that the method may become obsolete as soon as T2 is over and done, though that may be a year before it happens.
My Squig Herder is in mostly green gear, and it's my main yet I do fine in scenarios and in 6 mans. I got guild mates with full blue or purple gear who play more than me yet I don't care about ever having all blues and purples myself. I think people in RoR are too obsessed with gearing their characters up to the max, in an Alpha as the devs often say where we players are the testers. Yet at one moment it seems like the game is being treated as a "Game" but when people want to argue a point, change it into an "Alpha". Can we just pick one please?

tbh spending a lot of money / grinding 200+ hrs for gear atm doesnt seem worth it since after all we are on t2... come t3 all that gold spent and farming done will be for naught as your gear will be replaced

T3 is a long ways off m8, we don't even have 1/3rd of T2 finished ATM. People still have fun with it, and some will wash out till t3. I 100% support this. This will encourage the players to stay active and keep going to RR100 and play some more for some great items.
