The Assault SW comparison
The Assault SW comparison
How does the ASW fair when compared against other melee classes? Is it viable on any level?

It is fine paired with a WL but feels really clunky to play . You have no snare immunity ability.
Dmg wise its totally fine

Re: The Assault SW comparison
It is lacking on many aspects compared to every other mdps class, major offenders here to list a few: not having a charge movement speed skill/snare immunity/on demand aoe dmg output/high ap costs/dont have melee snare/dont have access to self healing/after the nerfs it lost some st dmg potential as well so there is no saving grace for playing asw other than looks.

Re: The Assault SW comparison
SW is not S tier by any aspect but it's not super bad. a good mSW can find a place in a 6-man, but not having one is not a deal-breaker so it's best to try and make friends.
Crosscut debuff is nice and mSW can still use skirmisher heal debuff, and shadowstep helps you stay on target, though not having a snare breaker means it's not a guarantee of a gapping the range (you also don't have a snare so that can sting).
Paired with a WL and a SM running ww it really shines. But a good st slayer or WH will always one up you. Not by much though, if you have the gear and skills.
In theory having a lot of ranged attacks is also a plus, but I find stance dancing in ror very clunky because of the cooldown. And i've never heard of any good SWs utilising stance dancing a lot (mostly used just for solo roam and even then you need Guerilla Training from scout path to make it really good).

It's garbage. If it was not you would see lots of them, like mSH. mSH is much better and fun to play. Also aSW got nerfed in recent patch.
