It's not. SM's damage is superior to BO's in every regard because SMs are hitting spiritual and Wrath of Hoeth + shatter enchantment on shaman res means you're hitting for near unmitigated damage. Once again, keep in mind that a ton of order dps hit for spirit, like SWs during VoN for example so it's better for group play aswell. Especially in the current meta.

BOs, Like SMs suffers from not being able to finish targets due to the plans mechanic but unlike SM it doesn't bring any utilities, offensive or otherwise (Such as res debuff or WW) only a WS skill buff and 990 armor debuff.

If you want a physical offensive tank, you're better off doing it on a BG or, even better on an IB. The burst those two can put out is far superior to what a BO can put out, especially IBs which can easily reach 65%+ crit on GBF, near STR softcap and have a 1200 armor debuff.

Just to give some numbers, taken from hitting a Sov shammie/AM target dummy with full toughness talis, prebuffing myself and fully debuffing the target.

In a 5s burst window my IB, fully meme dps specced could hit for 8k in a 3s window, around 10-11k in 5. BG was slightly lower at 7k in 3s and 9-10k in 5s. Comparatively, my BO was hitting for barely 5k in 5s and 3.5k in 3s.

The reason for that is simple, BOs do not have any skills that deal meaningful damage outside of THC. Once you're done with your channel you do not have a Crimson Death or Murderous Wrath to end the burst window with, you do not have any dots from Cave In and Heavy Blow snapshotting to your instant damage nor anything similiar to Rune Etched Axe to secure a kill with. Unironically, I think I could build a full meme dps Kobs to hit harder than a BO with the new changes but I ain't about to spend 12k+ crests to test that out so someone else will have to take the L if they want to try it.

BOs are a complete joke at what they're supposed to be good at, which is being an offensive tank assisting dps through damage and offensive utilities. They've been jokes since Invader was released but at least back then the class had Waaagh reducing CDs.

Chosens does the most damage in solo and small scale by a large margin, IB been the closest second.
SM’s and the rest lack big chunks of burst, which makes them substantially inferior.

Swordmaster/Chosen does better average damage vs. physical damage classes, but who needs to do a little better damage to tanks in group/scenario/RvR play? Your job is to put kill pressure on squishies and punt away tanks. SM damage is lower on squishy targets vs. physical damage tanks and can't punt away enemy tanks. They're a Whispering Winds bot that can go channel defensive in 2h spec with WodS.

Solo game? Chosen doesn't have to deal with kiting shammies or regen marauders. Nah man, its not the Swordmaster that's the best overall.

I might quibble on exact placement but this is more or less correct. People really overestimate the damage of the SM for targets that count.

Also, lol that nobody has voted for IB. 2H IB can be an absolute monster.

talking about big dps glass cannony 2h tanks build.

SM does the most consistent damage overall even to squishies they do fine they added even another resistance debuff with the new patch... High crit, high parry pen

IB does the biggest burst so in some ocations they do the most damage, so many dots that can crit, has the highest crit chance even with no gear. (they do really well as glass cannon)

BG similar to IB but with less dots and crit chance but they have a clutch antidetaunt tactic.

BO highest crit dmg of all tanks with a single ability (KD or shut yer face?) can reach 2k crit sometimes more or less, but they suffer with ap a lot and like mentioned already doesnt have more outside THC channel to finish their target quick, but yea if not detaunted they can kill.

CHOSEN similar to SM but cant reach that higher dmg, sometimes can do more dmg than a BO or IB but its because of the spirit dmg and who you target, will take some time to kill squishies and do very poorly against healers... thing is chosen doesnt have to try much to deal dmg so most chosens will do similar dmg.

KOBS doesnt have a dedicated 2h dmg tactic, runefang will do barely nothing to increase dmg just like chosen daemonclaw, their str scale very poorly just like most tanks, still havent seen any glasscannon kobs that try a very high crit antidetaunt build to kill healers or something, they rely on their reflect dmg builds which sounds lame... still they can 1v1 just fine.

BO with just 600str can do more dmg than a capped str Chosen just because of the tactics and the abilities that just have more damage... so rely more on % increasers than plain stats.

why? because of viability and dps. sm dont have super punt and all builds are around wispering winds. while ather dps tanks dont have such issue.
if this for solo or 1vs x again any regen tank with magicial attacks.
