How many crests at rr 80?

Well, in regards to choppa (same goes for slayer) its indeed very frustrating to level one without group support. Awful pug experience both in sc and orvr. Best option is to ensure yourself a dps spot in a group and farm SCs or leech orvr in organised wb. Doomed to only play it grouped.
Chosen and zealot are easily puggable and doing just fine in any environment tho either solo or in group. I see absolutely 0 problems with leveling them out. Sadly no more SnB PvE set after VW rework, but you can do just fine as utility 2h.
AM starts to really shine with sov in general, so being 54 with 1,4k crests is not cool, alot of efforts would be needed to gear it up. Maybe someone could advice some shortcuts or not so obvious gear mixes soothing the issue. Also take into account its a bad idea to go as DPS on AM being that undergeared and low rr, so you are pretty much forced to heal.

I'm feeling ok with the general power lvl of my healer AM in Sentinel/Hv/Beastlord combo. I believe I have Little crest on this one cos I never did any orvr it was basically fully lvl in sc and on top of that I didn't farm ruin but rather got mercenary (and 34 blue wpn if I remember correctly)

I find kind of weird that u can get max rnwn lvl but don't have the money to buy the actual gear. Maybe it 'd be nice to increase either crest gain or rnwn cap to 85 or something so it doesn't feel like u screw it lol.

Oh yeah, to actually answer the question of going full pvp:

If you buy all your pvp ward pieces (not including belt, cloak and ring) and buying boots and gloves where possible, then you only need:
2162 crests to unlock Invader
+143 for Vanq belt

At this point for most classes Triumphant and/or Victorious are part of their BIS, especially if you plan on getting the ring.
For the pieces that you need for ward but are not part of BIS, you can buy the cheaper invader, so somewhere between 0-3.3k crests could be considered wasted (3.3k full ward from invader).

Obvisously, invader ward cost can be significantly reduced with 1-2 lucky BS runs, if you are to do that for the weapon anyway or you need full sov (snb tanks, AM/SHM).

And as long as you are willing to pay around 500g for gloves+boots+vendor/AH fillers or buy them on other alts, you should be more than fine as long as you get 11-15k depending on your class/setup, which looking at replies here and on other posts is about what you can expect.

Full Vanquisher with [The Sight] wpn is super powerful. Dont need resto burst and grp heal is 1.6s without any points but with vanq 6pc proc and one of the sight procs, and both are awesome. Shaman does not get this combination of procs in any wpns which is annoying.

My chars got 11k-15k crests doing mostly casual play, sometimes some /5 premades and dou zerg surfing.
I consider that okish, the problem is if the bis contains vic or triump cos then you need 20k or so while doing all pve wards.

This should be good enough, though may be obvious:
Rings & Cloak
2p gen scholar remnant/aspect.
2p fury of the sandstorm (cloak, ring from lotd)
Either Sent ring + 54 Magic power/+23 int or Exquisite Gunbad Jet

Gear:
2p Oppressor (boots+gloves, buy with gold)
3p victorious BIS parts (belt, body, shoulder)
Then buy helm either Oppressor (cheaper for 355 crests + wounds bonus)
or victorious (expensive for 1128 crests + early 4p bonus is good).

Weapon: bloodlord staff.

The absorb shield, into absorb/heal pot, into M1 absorb, makes up for missing tankiness in a lot of cases.

Replace with sov/war as you can, then get vic ring to finish.

If you go for 3vic-3war-3sov, grap War (ring, helm, gloves) at R73, then Sov (cloak, boots, shoulder) at R76, if this is your end goal, I'd grap Oppressor or bloodlord helm+shoulder instead of Vic, to save crests.

Otherwise, just replace all non-Vic pieces with sov when you can.

True but usually you can compensate the missing ring by purchasing a replacement piece for the time until you have farmed the ring to maintain 4pc tri/Vic bonus.
Works pretty well on slayer or choppa. All together it may look like a lot and it actually is but it is BiS and not needed to perform well as a player.
Building an efficient update path for a certain class build helps a lot to save crests albeit you eventually buy the pieces anyway for appearance. xD

Hello, while levelling my swordmaster I started building a spreadsheet that tracked my renown and crest gain from RR59 to RR77. I made this spreadsheet at the time to try and help answer exactly the same question: could I afford to buy warlord on my way to sovereign (answer was no).

What I found out was I averaged 2.4 crests per 1000 renown earned (with renown pots active almost all the time). So if you are at RR 54 now on your AM, I estimate you'll earn a further 13.8k crests between now and RR78.

What this means is, if you purchase more than 3.8k crests worth of gear before sovereign (e.g. full invader at 4.6k) then you will struggle to afford a full set of sovereign when you reach it (Assuming you have no crests right now!).

If anyone is interested, the spreadsheet is here, could use some help testing it Right now you need to manually log the data but I'm starting to think an addon is the way to go.

Obviously a ton of this comes down to playstyle, and which faction you play at which time of day.

I just leveled a Marauder from RR20 to 80, as NA destro. I skipped everything, did ALL the PvE, and did not spend any crests beyond the T1 gear. When I hit 78, I had just over 5k crests.

I am probably at an extreme end of the spectrum of getting screwed out of crests tho. I play solo or duo, I played with 40%+ AAO almost the entire time I leveled the character, Destro took a total of 2 zones on my trip to RR80 (It has been a bit better lately), I can earn renown extremely quickly.

I don't have a solid record of my progress, but I earned somewhere around 150k renown/ night and around 150 crests/ night while I was leveling. And that was maximizing my pitty crests for fighting against the zurg.
