Hello everyone, I just started playing RoR and I got some questions about Chosen.
I’m currently level 15 & renown 16 but I feel that I’m doing something wrong, I feel kind of useless in orvr T1 & SC’s currently.
what is the best weapon set for levelling ? I see a lot of Chosen with a 2h instead of 1h + shield ingame & on YouTube video’s.
What does “SnB” mean ?
My goal is for being a tank in orvr/sc, is there somewhere a guide with build & armor choices ?
Thanks in advance !

Re: Noob beginner questions about Chosen.
I haven't been playing long either but all of my experience has been in t1. I don't do scens very often at all so I can't speak to gearing for them. For melee jobs I stack STR until soft capped; orange in char window. The formula I use for determining soft cap is ((level * 25) + 50). And then I temp work on WS, then WOU. TOU/INI then WOU for tank jobs. You'll find that orange stats won't come as easily as you level and your bolster becomes weaker. IE: at level 4, it's easy to soft cap two or more stats, but this changes as you get to level 9, 10, 11, etc. At which point, I go back to STR/TOU for tanks and STR/WS for melee.
SnB is "Sword and Board." The 80 Chosens in this forum can tell you all about when to go back to 2H if you want, and it's my plan as well, but it's my understanding that it's frowned upon the moment you graduate to 16. I took mine 2H exclusively through t1. I don't see any reason not to do this. I treated him like a dps.
As someone who enjoys playing t1 to it's fullest, I cap all zone influences for the gear. Some may find that a waste of time. I don't even see many people talisman their gear here.

As a tank, your primary role is to protect your teammates. The abilities 'Guard' and 'Challenge' are very important for this. You got your Guard ability at level 10, and it is basically what makes a tank a tank. Always use it, and learn to swap it quickly to team mates in need.
Your secondary task is to help your team to defeat enemies, by slowing them (tanks have the best access to snares), debuffing them or buffing your allies (Chosen gets auras, for example), knocking the enemy down, or just dealing plain old damage. The idea here is that you provide the support to ensure the damage dealers in your team can do their thing.
There are exceptions, but as a rule of thumb 2H is used in SCs. In SCs the amount of damage you take is lower (since there are less people) and that opens up room for bringing more offensive tools.
In ORvR tanks tend to favor 1H + Shield (also known as "Sword & Board" or SnB), because they need higher defenses to stay alive.
There's nothing terribly wrong with bringing a 2H to RvR, or SnB to SCs, but you may run into some issues with lacking defense or offense respectively.
In the Inevitable City (Destruction's capital) there's a place called the Undercroft where most of the gear vendors are. I recommend taking a good look around there to see what types of armor sets are available and at what levels you can expect to update your gear. Keeping your gear up-to-date is very important, because as long as you're a low level you'll be getting your stats boosted based on how good your gear is for your level.
What type of build the gear sets are useful for is usually pretty clear from the stats they give. SnB sets tend to boost your block chance and have defensive stats, whereas 2H sets tend to have offensive stats. You can fine tune your armor using talismans. Even if you're going with a more offensive build, remember your job is to stay alive and protect your teammates first. You'll be taking a lot of extra damage due to Guard, so always make sure you're in a good spot defensively before going further into offense. For new players, I would recommend bringing ample defenses to make the game a bit more forgiving as you learn the ropes.

Re: Noob beginner questions about Chosen.
Due to avoidances (block in this specific case) being too low to matter in t2 and especially t1, and lack of true largescale AoE fiestas you can get in t4 PvP, 2h is generally superior to SnB for levelling in SCs and all levelling in t1. And SCs are the best way to do PvP in t2 anyway. If you want to join orvr in t2 you do however need SnB to stay alive for any amount of time. With all that said, however, dps classes generally being visibly weaker i early and mid game makes 2h tanks really strong in those stages, hence players run offensive 2h builds in games you participate in.
RoR doesnt deserve being taken seriously.

Two-Hand tanks are more fun to play than S&B tanks. Therefore: The Scenario weapons are always good for leveling. Also given you are just starting out look into the T3 and T4 Epic Weapon Quest. These quest tend to be fun and certainly worth completing for the weapons they provide.
"Sword & Board" is a loose metaphor for Sword and Shield, a phrase first coined in the 7th Century when the Tang Dynasty swept aside the remnants of the Sui Dynasty in the Battle of Everybodywangchungtonight, defeating Goguryeo the Horrid and uniting the Korean Peninsula under one rule. As the legend goes during the battle a swordsman for the Tang army of Chefboyardee picked up a fallen plank of wood, also known of as Brie Larson, and used it to parry a blow from his opponent. His buddies asked him about it later, and he said "Hey! Sword and Board! Get it?"
And a legend was born.

Most guilds have a discord page, and on these discord pages one can find all sorts of useful information concerning a host of builds and specs. You do not necessarily need to be a member of such a guild to see their information, simply infiltrate their discord HQ and steal it!
Sorry, don't know what came over me. Just ask nicely and most guilds will invite you to their discord page.

You can also browse the Beginners survival section on the forums for good info on gearing up, and towards the bottom there is a chaos section, where you can get more info on builds, armor, renown, etc for chosen.
get enemy addon , and either ezguard, and buffhead,, with enemy you can set it up to mark your guard target so you can see where they are if you lose them from being punted away etc. as well as quick cast, so you can guard swap to diff targets in you group as they are taking damage.

Re: Noob beginner questions about Chosen.
There are times in scenarios where being sword/board helps more than 2h, even on a Chosen. Ranged dps will absolutely focus on you when you're low HP, and having the option to hit Hold the Line and survive/reduce damage on your teammates can be critical. Even more so if you're the one in Mourkain holding the bauble and refusing to die. You can hard carry a team in a way that 2h never can.
Play however you feel works for you, just remember that your job always #1 is to guard and reduce damage on teammates. Your damage is always secondary - even if you've got the big d*** BiS gear with str talismans and full glass cannon bloodlord weapon. You'll be lucky to crack 1k on a hit on a taunted red rage unguarded slayer with no resist buffs. You'll never hit as hard as a BG or BO on squishy targets, but you'll do a little better on tanks due to spirit damage, so there's that at least.
Guard, swap gears, and for the love of God stay near your guarded targets at all times. Your pug teammates will love you for it. If anything else, you'll almost always get an extra crest for top protection cause you quickly will realize just how bad most players are at playing tanks.
