Re: Twisting Tower mechanic
I think it's pretty fun and whacky. I didn't like it at first because I had no clue what was going on, but now it's probably one of my favorites.

Re: Twisting Tower mechanic
LF was change becuase iirc it was buggy and random explosions, on the old version I've died +5 times to explosions in a single SC.
With TT I've had more rounds without explosions than with two or more.
It's a great pug sc with a global reset for comebacks and spread out fighting.
I can see why it would be annoying for 2x6 v 2x6 disc premades just there for the standard fight, but you can go an play any other SC.
Sure, fix barriers (and killboard credit...

Sure, fix barriers (and killboard credit...), and change the explosion colour to purple/black so it's corrupting wave that kills rather than an actual fire explosion, but other than that it's a pretty good time, best pug weekend event in a long time.
This would be fine if it was solely a pug sc like the discordants that were added but it’s not, this is also in general rotation for premades/event etc..
You referenced it’s good for spread out fighting (of which I am also a fan) but a bomb suddenly going on and forcing everyone to respawn together as a blob contradicts this, so which is it you prefer?
I think Khaines Embrace is the only real map where a clear out of the objectives makes sense and players are given fair warning of when the explosion is coming to move away or cc/punt enemy players back into it, perhaps a similar mechanic on Twisting Tower would work where a countdown starts after it is activated.
Agree with black/purple wave though instead of fire if there is intent on keeping an explosion

Re: Twisting Tower mechanic
I know most people hate this scenario but I love it.
Re: Twisting Tower mechanic
It is quite chaotic and unpredictable but imo for pug play is one of the best cos u alway make some points, crests and the wave give quite alot of rp.
I get it why prems dont like it, but after all it is the only one that cater toward pugs so let it be

Re: Twisting Tower mechanic
what? a 6 man can funnel people at the stairs denying 12-18 people even playing the game its a terrible sc that seems to bring out more complaint threads than any other everytime it comes back around

Re: Twisting Tower mechanic
It's very premade of you to assume that everybody has the same respawn timer or isn't standing around in a safe space when it explodes.
And even if they do, the other side might not, and even if they do too, they could split differently at spawn, and even if everyone blobs, new players could have joined that makes you win the blob v blob that you lost before, but couldn't turn around due to momentum, and either way it still leads to a single sc with multiple stages potentially getting played out very differently pretty much every time, which is part of what makes it a great (pug) sc.

Re: Twisting Tower mechanic
Bombling, you are a stalwart of the server and I love ya. Well, ok, not really, but I'm always glad to see you running around because you are an asset to the server at large. Sincerely, I mean that.
HOWEVER!
A few follow-up notes because you obviously have been misled by some dark and sinister power lying buried deep within the bowels of the server which was recently awoken by some watery tart lobbing a scimitar and a small piece of Mythril Ore because you have not seen what I have seen...

You may be wondering what that gif has to do with my previous comment, and the answer is nothing. Just thought it was cool.
I agree, this SC does feature a great layout of a scenario map.
Don't care.
Some players in any gaming community live to find and exploit exploits. Personally I like the fact that when one gets punted over the side a death is not registered, you just blip back to the start point and start over.
You actually had a healer in your SC's? What's that like?
But again to my way of thinking another strong point because it forces the healing classes to think and plan and react and move and all that stuff they should already be doing anyway.
If I recall correctly when first introduced the Twisting Tower SC was 12 v 12. I believe it was changed to allow for the tactic of splitting your 18 player group into three 6 man groups and thus attempting to control all three points all at the same time. Or something like that.
However I like the frantic movement aspect of the SC. Again, it forces players to actually consider what they are doing.
True, and I agree that should be addressed.
Variety is the spice of life.
I have found this to be fairly even and accessible to both sides.
Some players are afraid of themselves, of their in game reality; their feelings most of all. Players talk about how great group-sacrifice is, but that’s bullshit. Groups hurt. Feelings are disturbing. Players are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with annoyances if they’re afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain, but they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a cell-phone. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting the community destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.
So play Twisting Tower.
