I'd say it's fair price. It's best in slot item and was originally gated behind ranked 6vs6 (which didn't pop very often). Lot of people were jumping for joy when they got opportunity to buy it with regular crests.

It really depends, it is expensive and quite the time sink. There is in theory a faster way - ranked matches, but unfortunately, they do not pop during most people's play time, and is community that is overly negative in general.

Best in slot ring that was exclusively for ranked and not available to the rest. I understand it may seem ''insanely'' priced from a new player perspective but it's really not, it is the single most powerful item in the game in terms of power increase for the character.

Be happy it is available to everyone and not just some midnight once in a bluemoon ranked small groups of players as it used to be.

unfortunately that is the way they want this server to go - i was way happier when BiS Gear was 3 little Quests and some pieces you could buy at a Vendor - but we probably have to accept that the majority of this server needs a carrot to stick around

This isn't AoR. This RoR. I always had this opinion but coming back this time I saw it.

This isn't a RvR centric game anymore. There is no RvR identity, no realm leaders, noone to rally behind for the average player and no reason to fight. Nothing like that now. If there is a group, the mentality is to look down on most people. Some weird sense of achievement exists on the server. Its common to watch hundreds of players avoiding each other in RvR as a result. Crossrealming to farm is encouraged and accepted by the community (because they have no say anyway), rather than to balance, as it takes an entire wb rather than a 12man to turn tides in a lake, sadly. Mostly just lowkey ganks otherwise. As such, zergs have been heavily buffed in RoR which leads to defeatism by oldschool 6vx'ers who seem to have turned to 6v6. However not in the traditoonal sense, the game now overcompensates its catering to this playstyle to the extent the game is a weird mix and segregation of competing interests. Average gamers brought in/nostalgic for the RvR and 'smallscalers' looking for a structured competitive pvp. Of which there are many better alternatives with actual competitions as opposed to 'gold' lol. Duel for cash is 'prohibited'...

The core community is driven by a strong sense of 'competitive' structured pvp. RvR IS NOT structured. It was fun to organise 6v6 and 12v12 on Live as distraction from fighting RvR (Zergs and gg's guild groups) if you couldn't find premades to vs in lakes.. a sidegame to fighting outnumbered. As the desire is not the original way AoR was played, therefore, with the advent of this mentality (perhaps dormant until server was in position to offer it tothe smaller percentage of players wanting it, from its inception, sadly) ranked scnearios were born. This created the items. As well as a slew of changes to reduce outnumbered fights without going to locked zones to spvp. Where there would be no rewards. Thus pushing players towards spvp and away from rvr modes, so...

...gear was attached to this desire for 'competitive' spvp and very obviously players who wanted a structured pvp had to deal with 'low' players using ranked sc's for grinding the gear they attached to it. Lol. So much lol. Very obvious but ofcourse server is made by and for the spvp'ers.

The currency change is purely because of these changes impacting Ranked scs 'competitive nature'. Because real premades can't go fight in locked zone like always. Ranked's introduction had gear attached and attracted players wanting the gear. So changes were made to remove the identity of AoR's crests system in favor of unified currency. Can't have anything interfering with spvp in Warhammer...

As such, the price is a result of the grind becoming targettable rather than RNG based (for the majority of casual players, not counting players that had full Sov within weeks of its implementation). I wouldn't be surprised if the duplicate ring that costs 8k more than the normal one can give a set bonus but only a few people can afford it. I think unified currency is a good idea but way its done a mistake and a balance should have been struck between unified currency and keeping the crests to be broken down in tokens rather than just getting a bunch. Lazy. In an MMO getting 75x smalls isn't as good as getting 1x big worth exactly the same. At least try to hide it, you can make entire new subclasses but can't facade a currency?

Yes, I'm aware of the irony of the game being turned into a competitive structured pvp arena yet the gear grind, while being at its easiest ever, being a barrier to this. RoR has always had an identity crisis.

Current solution? You grind scenarious for your gear, or make a pickupgroup. Perhaps you have a guild group too. I don't know fastest ways to get tokens apart from lose sc's as fast as possible.

edit; removed examples from live of realm pride, rallying, notable guild groups. Things that live had, that aren't ingame mechanics, that RoR lacks. Noone cares because the game isn't about that anymore. Black Thunders came to mind, ironic

I'm not saying you shouldn't have to work for your gear but once they made the decision to make Triumphant/Victorious available outside Ranked there is no reason to have stupid prices.
People say it's BiS but you don't even need it for a Sov/Triumphant combo with Sentinel jewel.

It's only slightly better than Sentinel anyway except the set bonus.
Imo they should lower the price to something reasonable and make the Invader jewel a Slot 3 with Epic talisman Slot.

Gearing shouldn't have to a painful grind but come naturally as you enjoy the game.
