Re: Speedhacking/Bugusing
I remember having that bug even in old live WAR. Fun times

Re: Speedhacking/Bugusing
What about some people constantly accusing you publicly of cheating without proof? Isn't that a form of harassment? I'd love it if the global /s and /w chat were not a feature.
Re: Speedhacking/Bugusing
If you're not cheating then it shouldn't really affect you then. It's rather easy to tell when someone is saying "OMG CHEATER" when they lose a fight (ie people like Telen). I get hit out of los sometimes from SW's and AM's but that doesn't mean it was done intentionally. This guy has been speed warping since day one though, it's nothing new.Zegota wrote:What about some people constantly accusing you publicly of cheating without proof? Isn't that a form of harassment? The fact you have to explain to some wacko out there you aren't cheating, while he types in some incoherenent english(!), is pretty frustrating imo. I wouldn't call it a form of harassment, but Zegota is a sensitive carebear so... =/Renork wrote:If you're not cheating then it shouldn't really affect you then. And then you get posts like this one with nameshaming etc, while devs have explicitly said there is not gonna be a public ban list...

Re: Speedhacking/Bugusing
Be very careful when reporting a speedhack publicly.
Issues with speed are just as likely to be flaws in the code than any deliberate hacking.
This is why we request that suspicious activity be reported privately,, preferably to one of the GMs, not me.
In the future, I will provide a command accessible to all which will check a player's speed as the server views it. This cannot be changed from the client side and so will better indicate whether a speedhack is in use.
Due to the communication system used by this game, however (which is overly trusting), a dropped packet for speed change could present exactly this kind of behaviour.
