I don't like a lot of the devs decisions and lack of certain decisions. But Banning NB is not one of those decisions. Why play a game when you have an addon essentially play your class for you? Any addon IMO that does operations faster than a normal human could, or reduces the amount of mistakes a player could make, especially in a competitive environment. Is an unfair advantage.abezverkhiy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 4:35 pm You sound like a moron forgive me for rudeness. NB was banned in the end of May, population dropped in the end of May. People left. Not one or two but a healthy half. In Oceania scens begin to pop after midnight now. Who gives a horseshit if you and some stubborn dev think it is a cheat when the game is now fully playable during EU times only? No people - no RoR simple is that. You try to kill NB - you wiped half population. Well done, keep it this way and soon there will be none because people will not play it under current circumstances.
How to get ROR population up.

Re: How to get ROR population up.
There was quite a loss after NB block, imo it alienated a lot of the older community that don't come to play competitive ranked and just want a chill game to play casually. I think it is easy to have content for both to enjoy. Some changes require nuance not just blanket nerf for everyone.

Re: How to get ROR population up.
I used to be a NB player and reality is more like this;
"I am not bothering readjusting to new input layout per alt, so I am not playing my alts."
"Input requirement difference between my kotbs and IB is stupid, where kotbs was already better and more wanted to begin with, so I will shelf my IB"
"respeccing inputs is not worth unless it is for city, so I will just play with same 1-2 spec"
And most importantly; "Mindless AoE was already easier and more effective then ST, and now on top of being less effective input req for ST went skyhigh so I will shelf my ST mdps"
And guess what those lead to? Less variety in gameplay and boredom > less activity..

Re: How to get ROR population up.
This topic is not about unfair advantage NB gave. This topic is about loss of population. And population was lost because of that decision.Scottx125 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 2:03 amI don't like a lot of the devs decisions and lack of certain decisions. What's your idea to bring population back to where it was before end of May?
Re: How to get ROR population up.
One thing to think about when looking at population drop is the players attitude and a section of the community which shares and pushes thier view of imbalance, addons .......
The player group that is in RoR is small and inter connected and as such negative (positive if there was much of it ) attitudes flow fast like most rumors , if there is a lot of negativity spread due to patches, direction or balance these will cause players to lose the fun in playing and blame whatever ills they face with said factor. So whining that balance, NB, NW ... is the cause ppl will/have left will likely to produce the effect of ppl leaving not because of balance, NB, NW... but rather that they feel that this is a reason they should leave. Good old self fulfilling profecies .
So back to the thread, best way to get pp, to stay/ join the game is to be positive and throw less salt, things don’t grow on salty ground.
That does not mean not commenting but keep it civil, keep it factual and leave the drama and doom interpretation your side of the screen.

Re: How to get ROR population up.
As said actual "older player", I'm on for very large chunks of time every day, evening and night....I have my main and one of every Destruction Career that I am also currently working on to cap, and I don't need any add-ons to play for me, I make decisions in the heat of battle and sometimes they're good, others, not so good.....and that's how it SHOULD be.
I highly doubt there was some sort of mass exodus because The Team took away your literal I-Win Button".

Re: How to get ROR population up.
Ahh the NB discussion all over again. I never understood people's issues with the addon... The game mechanics are so fundamentally simple that i really don't see how NB could have any significant impact.
Who's gonna use it and for what? Tanks will put shatter/sever as priority? Who cares. They'll use it to set up their buffs/debuffs and keep them up? Minimal effort to press a sequence of keys anyway. The mythic auto-interrupts? LMAO. DPS will use it for what? NB can't replace understanding of where to be, who to hit, how and when to burst, how to be safe... And for healers i can't think of a single possible use of the addon. Matter of fact, if anyone can think of a single ability that is significant in it's NB use i'd like to know it.
I never really cared for the addon, but seeing that people actually quit over it has me thinking that for whatever reason they needed it to be in the game. I see no difference either way

Re: How to get ROR population up.
Good post with actual thought and examples. Very true for my situation. I only play 2-3 classes now, a huge reduction from my previous rotation and play 2-3 hrs a week instead of 10-15. My core guilds are inactive now. The wb leaders are gone but ask me for a state of the game occasionally.mynban wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 3:22 amI used to be a NB player and reality is more like this;

And for the people who say NB was "1 button win" its obvious that you don't know what you are talking about and you are grossly exaggerating its impact. It did have an impact though.
For those who characterize it as a cheat addon I will remind you that it once was available to all, like enemy or discord, or buff head or teather or swift assist or a ton of related add ons that not everyone uses. Are the people who use the remaining add ons cheating or are the non-users deficient in some way for not using them?
Are the people who do MOST of the same things with gaming mice and macros cheaters? Pretty sure that is 95% of ranked.
primary IB 8X, EN8X, WP7X, SL7X, KOTBS6X, and a bunch of under rr60 toons on order and destro with other classes.
