AAO should boost the stats of defending players. The bigger the AAO, the more HP, parry, block, crit, damage, etc. the defenders get. While they defend keep and/or BO, they would get these
bonuses but not when attacking; that way we would avoid cheesy and unrealistic situations where 6 warbands defend against a warband of "super heroes" .
The influence and RR bonuses are not incentive enough for overwhelmed players to stick around, rather than switch sides, because althought the rewards might be huge when AAO is high, the likeleyhood of them scoring anything, that would pay those huge rewards, are nil.
ALSO IMPORTANT ASPECT! These bonuses should not be percentages of the player stats, because that way, the high end players would gain much more bonus than the under equipped ones would gain. These AAO bonuses to stats should add ontop of player stats, rather than inscrease those stats by percentage.

They could also add a bonus to sticking with one side the longer you stay on that side to discourage xrealming. Didnt DAOC do this or somethint?

I am sure that the best way to improve the balance is to learn a couple of programming languages, learn to understand databases and offer some kind of help to sort out routine things, thus giving the developers time to do everything right. I still have ideas on balance for about three pages of the forum. But so far I have not mastered the first point before publishing them a little far.
