Not sure if this is a feature, but I always remember group heals and group buffs working on the pets of allies, perhaps Eng/Magus pets as well.

Take this video for example:

You see the Lion pet's health plummet to 43%. Then it gets several large heals that are too big and frequent to be the WL heal over time; every time one of the WPs in party heals him, the pet gets healed at the same timestamp. I remember I always enjoyed grouping with WLs and Squigs because it gave me more chances to proc. Also, I always took note of the shiny AM resist buff going up on the Lions.

This was when Magus/Eng pet heal was stripped out of the game. The Zealot is healing the pet, it jumps from 67% to 100%. Later on through the vid you see the pet getting blasted by group heals several times.


If this were changed, Magus and Eng would be less punished in situations where it's hard to keep pets alive (sieges, mass RvR). WL would be better able to separate their pet out and use it for utility, and Squigs would be able to have more consistent/reliable pet buffs up. In general PvE the pets would be less of a liability as well. As a a secondary effect, it will be more likely that healers that depend on RB (particularly Shaman, AM, RP and Zealot) will have significantly higher chances to proc the tactic at lower level and rank. At higher ranks, a high healing crit rate makes this less apparent.

It was intentionally changed on ROR because pets were catching so many group heals they were effectively unkillable. The options were to either make them useless unkillable annoyances, or remove this inclusion so they are vulnerable but have meaningful damage.

We're not interested in further testing, the current iteration is acceptable for us. Keep your pets safe.

I see, thank you. I can definitely see where pets would have too much survivability due to group heals, but I also think having buffs affect them adds a lot of interesting nuance to the game.

imo I think it would be ideal for pets to rely less on stat transfers from items and simply have higher base stats from the start that are relatively equalized between variants, and then receive a good chunk of their bonuses from groupmates, but I may need to look at the numbers to be better informed here.

The stats allocation rates should atleast be adjusted for flame/grenade turrets and their magus equivalent to be tankier as both of them are dying too fast, you don’t have the liberty of being in the back lines with 120 range away from AoE like you do with rifle/pink horror

Y pets should get heals because WL pets aren't overpowered enough yet!!111 Shitty pets can even climb walls and attack oil what asap. needs to be fixed.

My thoughts exactly - the difference in durability and damage between each of the pets is very high. I can understand BiowareMythic's decision to go with stat sharing, but having higher base stats and having some stats tied to the line you spec in (as is done here) would even out the differences.
