Hi guys,
Brand new player here, never played this game on official servers or private servers but I do like the look of this game and am looking forward to playing.
Could you tell me how viable it is to level predominantly by questing and instances? I particularly enjoy doing group PvE content so this and questing is how I want to level. I am sure I will dip into PvP now and then but this will be very infrequent (I say that now but who knows).
So there it is, I know absolutely nothing about the game and am looking forward to playing.
Cheers,
Jonnod

Re: Levelling as predominantly PvE
You can lvl to 40 doing only quests, but there will be one huge problem for you - Renown rank (RR).
All non PVE rewards and gear requires you to have certain RR.
You won't get conqueror set before you reach lvl 40 and RR41. Vanq, invader and sov requirements are even higher.
Tl:dr if you wont do pvp as much or more than PVE it will be tough for you endgame.

Re: Levelling as predominantly PvE
You won't encounter many players in pve zones as well. Currently it is doable, because many new players start in pve zone and do the quests and PQ. But I guess the higher it gets, the less players you will encounter, because those tend to move into pvp to progress.
Leveling with instances is hardly possible, because most are for rank 40.
There is one low rank instance around rank 17 and one with like 32+. Others for relevant endgame gear are rank 40.

Dying is no option.

Thanks for the reply, so I am pretty much locked in to PvPing from the off then. Is the endgame all PvP based ?

There is endgame pve to get gear to be stronger in pvp. :^)jonnod wrote: Fri Mar 06, 2020 11:40 am Thanks for the reply, so I am pretty much locked in to PvPing from the off then. Is the endgame all PvP based ?
You can fully commit to pve but it will be hard at times to find people to join you and overall you will miss what most people on the server enjoy the most.

Re: Levelling as predominantly PvE
PVE grinding is the fasted form of leveling. But I'd definitely throw some SC's in there to mix it up so that you get some RR. People always say it's bad to hit level 40 before RR 40. All my characters I've pve grinded to 40 and within a couple of days of RvR I go from lvl 10-20 RR to level 40. So it is a slight disadvantage on gear, but if you get your ruin and beastlord set before you start PVP and slot talis. You should be okay.
