Re: Whats the Worst Design Choice Mythic Made that You Ran I
Guessing I will be odd man out on this.
- I loved the expansion pack and had a blast getting four toons to a 100 (before you could buy it in the end). The gear and RR training options really allowed me to play around with customizing my play style out side of the cookie cutter molds that 95% of players used. I never had a problem when my t3 toons came into t4, but then again I was not like 95% of the people who wanted to their t3 toons to be competitive vs a rr100.
I always understood that in order to compete with the big fish you had to EARN your RR first and get the gear and move up the ranks. I never expected Mythic to even things out so a new character of 2 months could compete with a character of 4 years.
But I guess bottom line is that I am of the "I will earn this" generation, and not the "GIMME GIMME for free" generation.
- What for me killed the game was the new RvR system with resource carriers and Star Keeps. That took all the RvR out of the lakes except for ganking and keep takes.
The old way was better. A single six man or WB could defend a zone for hours or even a whole day till more realm members logged in and you went on offensive.
It used to be that getting to the city end game was a real prize. Not something that happened four times a day.
Again, the "GIMME GIMME" mode of thinking won out. People wanted the city siege gear but did not want to spend the time to earn it, so Mythic was forced to introduce the new RvR system.
Even now in RoR you see people crying because they dont have ALL the gear. WTF people, learn to play without an all blue gear set. If I can do it anyone can. The only blue gear my toons have is the helm and even that is missing from a few.
One blue helm and less than 16 gold average per character....and I HAVE A BLAST!!!!!
SO basically in the end, it was not mythic that killed the game. It was the selfish "I want it now" attitude of the people playing that killed the game.

what kill that game, all of us wonder what, and all are right, but first of all is that game focused on rvr with 2 sides is not enough. As in SWTO game with 2 sides, there rvr nearly don't exist, only some sc and a lot of PVE, and the same in WoW. So ppl who didnt like rvr, left very quickly.
As all see up to now, it's very hard to bring balance to rvr.

the scenario queue system and not having 6vs6 standard scenarios for guilds to battle each other.
2nd: spending more ressources on pve then pvp and having the pvp lake only be like 20% of the whole lake cause of pve lake being so huge.

Dont forget, at launch WAR had entire PvP servers where the entire map was combat capable. Most people did not want that and those were the first servers to be closed down.

that rr "expansion" was straight up pay2win and a slap in the face of the community and im glad that the star system and what not was implemented for keeps it put goals and objectives and centralized rvr insted of this pointless back and forth t1 style rvr

The unified crest system was actually a good idea. No worries about left over crests from lower tiers, everything was usable no matter what level you were.
