Magus questions rr and tactics.

My Magus is at rr53 at the moment and I am running a single target build and had a couple of questions.

In terms of renown, I recently respecced from increased crit and int to dodge and disrupt and futile strikes. Was this a good idea, or is my damage going to suffer massively while offering me a few seconds of survivability?

In terms of tactics I have increased crit on havoc, endless knowledge, chaotic attunement, and changers blessing. Would it be worth running surging power and swift flames to get more return from changers blessing or is the investment in tactic slots not worth it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you're going ST DPS, maximise your crit above all else: rely on your big boy range, ranged snare (accessible at rr50), KB, AoE root, KD and Stagger to help you survive when you need to move.

Surging Power is absolutely mandatory if you want to go ST DPS. Don't use those crappy self-heal tactics if your goal is to do huge burst.

If you are going for burst blow em up before they know what is going on you want crit. What tactics you use should really change based on what you are running/what you are fighting against. The heal tactics are not that great. If you are running solo Aegis of Orange fire helps way more. I find i survive more with higher toughness and using the blue horror to give me better ranged defense if being focused by range but that requires you to run instant pet summon to make solid use of it.

Unless you have some decent ap regen i would not run swift flames. It gives you nice burst with each cast but you will find yourself out of ap quickly. I think Flames Kiss is a better option with surging power because that gives you two very hard hitting long range casts that are un-defendable. I have landed some nice kills that the target has retreated behind the wall just because i didn't have to worry about a random disrupt.

I have limited use in this spec though and have only really used it in Orvr seiging where i can get off long cast times without having to worry about being jumped on.

Thanks, for the advice. I'm liking the havok build so far but wanted to try a daemonology rift build at some point. Reading on the forum there doesn't seem to be a clear concensus about gear, renown, and talismans. What I have in mind is using demonic pact and demonic contract with the blue demon and pull em in before hitting close range abilities. Is this viable do you think?

The problem is that you'll have to be very close to pull as the blue daemon reduces your range to the level of a Choppa pull. But you can try it out and see if it works for you.
Nidwinqq used teabag Magus [Hysteria]

That's a good point, forgot about the range buff/debuff from the different demons.
