I feel the BO system is fundamentally flawed in this, as every fort I've been in has been a lost Defense. Order comes in and just dominants the whole round; Most of the time we have issues getting people in.( I understand that is being worked on, thank you for working on it so readily.) But I feel as though the BO system as it stands kind of sucks, Id rather have lieutenants on the field that we fight alongside to try and push the invaders out.
This exactly.
I just started playing and I was kinda enjoying Tier 1 RvR and the earlier tiers of Scenario.
But theres definitely some dated mechanics that would be changed in modern mmos.
When I jumped into RvR Tier 4, it was just a giant horde of players. I'm sure theres a lot of players who think its awesome, to have a huge number of players on screen. But that type of game-play falls against the quality over quantity notion. I was honestly disgusted by it. I was glad when a player finally took the initiative to get the sheep to ball up behind him and zerg through a doorway as a small unit cause this showed some actual thinking for once.
Anyways I've been playing Destruction and for the most part, its exactly what this guy wrote. Keeps get steamrolled. It's the same waiting game over and over. Stand in the keep while they ram the door. Try to heal or harass while this is going on. Wait a bit more. Oh the door fell, OK let them come in and we all wipe or try to abandon ship. We haven't had the necessary numbers to even hold. Sometimes we can hold a flag point for a like 5 mins after the keep falls. And then eventually order just brings the zerg through and clears it.
If you want to stress importance of holding flags before the keep siege, then they need to really provide some meritable defenses to the keep. IDK how you want to implement that. And perhaps the defenses scale to the player population ratio in the zone. It is really unfortunate that people stacked order with so many players and didnt want to create balance for the sake of the community.
I always join the underdogs cuz I feel personally guilty and ashamed to take the easy ride.
And the other thing is, a game like GW2 which does some realm v realm, has the distinction where there is a player cap to the zone. This deters the one-sidedness.
The scenario pvp needs a separate tier for just lvl 40s. Cause I was in a scenario where my group was in the range 31-39. And the enemy team was all 40's. It was a stomp, they clearly had the high level gear and all.
