What should I play?
What should I play?
Ok guys I have a huge conundrum with this game, I dont know what to play. I'm not the kind of person to just play what's fun, I'm a veteran to the mmo scene and I've always played whatever the faction/server needed most because I dont like winding up at endgame with a ton of competition for my class in groups. I dont mind playing something that's a challenge to level or to master, I always put the time in to get really good at my role be it damage, support, healing, or tanking. Now, what should I main?

A class that is always a must for groups - zealot/rune priest. Start with one of those.

Order Tank.
not dps one, actual tank who can stand at front line and have a will to do it.
everytime I see posts like this it's always same answer.
yet i haven't seen fresh tanks for long time.
I really wanna check out those posters to see they live for their words.
maybe they picked healer but it's really tanks order need.

Which tank though? I know they each fill a different role at endgame, and I dont mind the look and playstyle of any of themanarchypark wrote: Fri Jun 29, 2018 11:10 am Order Tank.

Re: What should I play?
Kotbs is the easiest one on the new players, he provides benefits just by popping auras (same as chosen) while SM and IB require more proactive playstyle. But imo you should pick the one that seems the most appealing to you and stick with him, good IB or SM can be as helpful as kotbs if played right (okay, I might be exaggerating here because kotbs bring so many strong passives it's hard to outshine him)

Re: What should I play?
Good luck to find out what you want to play. It has been more than 2 years now in my case and I still don't know what to play.
Like others said, order doesn't have a lot of defensive SnB tanks, so I guess you could start with that.

Re: What should I play?
Something I see a lot, at least in t1, is tanks/mdps being really timid and either wont engage (hiding behind rdps and healers) or they try to run away when engaging the enemy (meaning you only die further away), so my preference is a tank that can take an absolute beating while disrupting the enemy, would that be an Ironbreaker? I messed around with a BG so I get how they work as far as Grudge works, but it's my understanding that the BG is more about debuffing the enemy vs an Ironbreaker who buffs himself instead making him harder to killszejoza wrote: Fri Jun 29, 2018 3:25 pm Kotbs is the easiest one on the new players, he provides benefits just by popping auras (same as chosen) while SM and IB require more proactive playstyle. Re: What should I play?
sort of, but in large scale orvr IB is probably the least tanky ordo tank. pretty much any kotbs and a bubble spec SM is way more tanky. IB is a monster in small scale, not large scaleAebel wrote: Fri Jun 29, 2018 7:40 pmSomething I see a lot, at least in t1, is tanks/mdps being really timid and either wont engage (hiding behind rdps and healers) or they try to run away when engaging the enemy (meaning you only die further away), so my preference is a tank that can take an absolute beating while disrupting the enemy, would that be an Ironbreaker? it's a mistake to look at self buffs as a measure of tankyness as they just end up getting severed, and if you spend your entire rotation trying to re-apply them then you're not really doing anything. BG is super tanky because of it's free avoidance and terrifying foe - IB doesn't have these

Does the SM offer a lot to small or large parties besides some damage and being tanky? I haven't looked into them muchtazdingo wrote: Fri Jun 29, 2018 9:31 pmsort of, but in large scale orvr IB is probably the least tanky ordo tank. pretty much any kotbs and a bubble spec SM is way more tanky. Assuming you have capped armor you can swap out armor tactic. Runic Shield, higher levels of Block than the KOBS and SM, and an amazing M2 = SNB IB is godmode if specced well.
I could never hope to be as tanky as an IB - while simultaneously being somewhat useful (AoE snare, long punts, huge willpower buffs for disrupt) - on my SM.
