Trying to Git Gud, and Class Recommendations

I've tried this game a couple times, and I've tried several of the classes so far. Right now I'm looking mainly to focus on playing Order, and as such, I'm trying to find a solid class for a noob like me. I'm still so new to the game that I don't really know what I'm doing, and I'm pretty open to playing any role, I'm just a bit paralyzed by indecision on what class might actually work for a new player.

So essentially what I'm asking is this; what classes do you guys recommend for new players? Doesn't have to be Order or Chaos specifically, or melee or ranged, I'm not limiting myself at the moment. I'm really just hoping to learn from you guys so I can successfully get into this game because goddamn do I love me some Warhammer.

Like I said, I'm open to anything. My personal preference is brawling really, I like melee combat and having the ability to tank for a bit while still being a threat but this post is really just about trying to get more used to the game in general and finding a class that'll allow for that. Right now, a 2h kotbs is looking like what I'll be rolling for Order and probably a mara for Destro but as I said, I'm interested in seeing what the community has to say.

Nah

If you want to brawl but have survivability too the. You should roll SnB black orc

Mara might be the most survivable of all mdps but it's still an mdps

If you like dpsing, try different classes and level them to rank 10 or about, if you like it, continue, if you don't - pick some other one.
Same goes for tanks or for healers, see how they feel and function - you can get any class to rank 10 in 1-2 days of playing (about 5-10hours online) and running around in T1.
Maybe you end up liking some class for their looks, or their style, or for their special mechanic. You have 20 character slots and there little need to have a "main" character here, since highest renown rank gear is for rr45, which can be reached in 2-5 days played (counting hours spent on character online).

Noob friendly classes: Knight chosen as tanks, generally good and relatively easy to play. As dps, White Lions are still quite dominant same goes with Maras. As healers DoK and WP have medium armour and are less likely to instantly explode when focused compared to the other clothie healers - though you can get your Runepriest to be very tanky as well.

Thank you for the advice! You guys have given me plenty to consider, I'll be messing around with characters for the foreseeable future I think.

If you are new to the game any melee dps class is not a good advice, in the end they are more squishy than the rest and will get often focused making the experience more rough for you (some classes like mara or guardian WL are tougher than the rest but still - dps is a dps)

Imo you should start off with any tank. You are tougher than everything else, you have high error margin in case you mess up, you are not dealing a lot of damage but first you have to learn the game. I'm not saying you should get tank up to R40RR40 but to get a grip on positioning, learn the zones and general feeling of the game tanks are imo the best.
Also try different classes in T1 but be advised that it's only small portion of how the pvp looks later on, it's okay to learn the class and mechanic though

Lets be realistic here. A guardian spec WL with appropriate gear and talis is not only very tanky, but has decent mobility and a pet that has enormous burst. I have been destroyed by bolstered guardian white lions with decent gear. People will say “loljustkillpet”, but you can easily snare or pounce away, charge away, etc and wait to resummon it (or switch to ttt and have the pet snare before it dies). Even the most dumb white lion players can cause significant damage. You can also use pet pull although sometimes it doesn’t work. I can’t think of a class you can’t kill on a white lion if you are a semi decent player. The irony is that people whined/bitched about pounce not having a CD but you could easily detaunt the wl and survive the burst, nowadays You will get pounced, knocked down by the lion, and slaughtered if your healer isn’t paying attention. Have fun, it’s an overplayed class and super easy to play now. If I do see you in sc’s I’ll be that annoying magus that will kill your pet to force you to hide for 30 seconds :^)
