It can be defeated, but it requires a lot of good CC on the SW, counters to ini debuffs (BO is good for this), and high ini.

And anyone who thinks melee SW is a joke obviously isn't running sc, or coming up against top groups.
I agree with this

Its simple crit disparity at the end of the day, agrivated by just how good initiative debuffs are.

Essential what we are dealing with in the meta atm is a new improved encouraged aim as the twin debuffs will allow you to draw substantially more than 20% crit
Khorlar, Thorvold, Sjohgar, Anareth, Toldavf, Hartwin, Gotrin and others -_-

I have ~900 str, ~800 weap skill, ~3900 armor with green pots (str/armor), not counting Wrist Slash stat boost.

Ini debuff are too good, if it was only sw benfith from this like bypass x ini it would be good, but whole group?? SM is the perfect combo, another ini debuff + crit proc it is just too good to not run it. You wont have any problem with a assoult build.

Eventually dev will fix this thing... +100% crit to all party is quite broken.

Well fairly obvious that this is a nogo but devs seem to not see that. Same as they don't see why the highest mobility class shouldn't have the highest burst and lots of cc but I guess they don't see that either. I mean on both sides there are classes overly strong and almost always picked in a setup why not nerf these until others get relevant. Instead they start buffing one of them....

I can imagine increase in use of cleanse and respective tactics by healers out of BL farming.
Raise in Rare Fortune mix use, ini and tough talis instead of full armor.
Also BG's specced mid tree thx to his 45% crit defense buff and enemy crit debuff in competent group play. Not like there is lacking of BG on server.
Zeal and BO ini buffs .

Or just whine.

You want the whole faction to respec, change they tactics, talismans, gear and comps just to counter 1 tactic of 1 class?

You're simply clueless, melee SW is the SW spec right now. If you're running ranged SW you're playing a suboptimal build akin to melee WP, not the other way around.

I'm quite baffled that people here can actually defend this. Can this be countered? Yes but not fully and you have to: spend 40 ranks worth of renown, get 3-4 ini talis, have a BG/BO with you all the time while the enemy team doesn't have to because there's NO MIRROR.

It's ridiculous because order can go fully defensive with their renown since they get permanent, easily appliable, spamable 100% crit anyway and EVEN IF destro specs into ini/gets ini talis they might survive a might longer but they'll will lose a lot of potential avoidance/crit.

I mean, look at the graph. You need an insane investment into initiative just to counter this one tactic of one class.
