Hello all, my client launches but when i get to the main screen there is no options to create characters and after a few seconds a critical error pops up and the launcher terminates

Some general things you should make sure are the following:

- make sure your Warhammer folder does not reside in your user profile path, sometimes this leads to permission issues
- make sure that all the launcher files are in your Warhammer folder
- right click the Warhammer folder, click properties, remove the write protected flag from the folder and let the setting get inherited to all the subfolders and files
- make sure you stopped all processes that could hold files in the warhammer folder (for example your torrent downloader etc.)
- always start the launcher and the war.exe as an administrator. right click the .exe -> properties -> compatibility -> run as administrator. Configure the war.exe to a compatibility level of "Windows XP Service Pack 3"

If that does not help you can try some additional things

-temporary disable you antivirus and see if it makes any difference
- reinstall .net framework
- reinstall the visual c++ runtime

I don´t know if that is your first run of the game or if your client stopped working out of a sudden. If the latter is the case no guarantee but what i have heard and seen from other game forums is that the last ms patches against the spectre and meltdown attack are causing issues on some machines. If all of the above and the stickies do not help, you might try investigating that route.
