Ive leveled a variety of classes to t2, but i get frustrated when i enter a scenario and we dont have a healer, and same for when im in ORVR and i get dotted up by ranged dps and basically left to die and i dont get any healing
I got a healer to 40/40, and its OK. I feel like warbands never organize their groups, so my group heals and buffs are wasted, and in scenarios im often in a group all alone and i cant get much renown because low damage. Otherwise i feel useful and as long as i position myself well to avoid melee trains i stay alive
I also have a tank to 40/40, but yeah same issues. No mdps in my group to guard, and even if there is chances are they are afk at the warcamp or off in a random corner in the scenario. Atleast i stay alive, as opposed to when i try playing a ranged dps or a mdps god forbid
I really have been itching to do some damage lately, but if im going to spend most of the dead time and traveling across the map to get back to my warband that seems not fun at all, unless thats the typical mdps life

You sound like you need to join a guild. Puglyfe is frustrating.

If you want to play mdps then finding friends to guard and heal you is pretty much mandatory to have fun. WL is somewhat ok to pug on because of the mobility.

Re: Anyone else feel stuck to playing healers?
Don't play a healer then, unless you really like it. Back on live you could get awesome renown for doing out of party healing, here its abysmal compared to live renown gain from doing the same.
The Holy Trinity exists for a reason, play with people that make specializing in your archetype worth it, if you are healer, find a good dps and good tank, and vice versa for the other participants of the triangle.
that being said I'm doing somewhat okay soloing on a WE, just avoid fighting defensive tanks and Wls and you can beat most of enemies.

Re: Anyone else feel stuck to playing healers?
A lot of people simply aren't playing their healers at the moment.
Part of the problem is that much of the best healing gear comes from RvR rather than scenarios. This forces healers to focus on open world primarily until they are geared out.
The second part of the problem is that healers have realized they progress much much slower compared to DPS regarding character advancement. Many I know are playing alts primarily when pugging unless they can find an optimal spot in a group within a warband on the healer.... either that, or they are going DPS on their healer and running around trying to progress their character instead of queuing.
So what does this mean? For many people they queue scenarios while roaming around in RvR. Healers HAVE to do RvR to progress their characters and right now they aren't getting rewarded for healing in an equitable fashion to DPS. You get little renown and few drops simply healing people unless you are in a perfect group with enough DPS to consistently do the most damage in a fight. You get very little renown and ZERO drops for healing people solo, outside of group, in other warbands, etc. The same isn't true for doing DPS. You also get vastly less contribution ticks on defense and zone locks for healing as compared to DPS. Not even ballpark close.
End result, less healers healing in RvR = less healers in scenarios = more people frustrated by having no healing and not queuing. Just the way the game is currently, so you have to adapt to it and never expect healing. The good news is that I heard the problem is being worked upon in some fashion, not just for healers but for all non dps like tanks as well.

Re: Anyone else feel stuck to playing healers?
Fact is that no matter what you play, most of the time is gonna be be bad times when pugging. Dps can't dps, tanks don't guard, healers can't heal, or you lack one of the archetypes alltogether. At the end of the day you either stop pugging, or play whatever the hell you like as it makes no difference anyways 9/10 times.
But one thing should be said, pugging/soloing as a dps beats doing it on a healer. Solo kills beat no kills. And doing things on your own is always a viable option no matter what certain elitist might be spamming, as pugging is infact the stupidest thing to attempt most of the time unless you actually like being afk for hours on end.

Re: Anyone else feel stuck to playing healers?
Warband pugging isn't too bad as long as whoever has control of it is properly making the group by making sure all groups have healers/tanks/dps, actively kicking out people not listening/following/afk, and not standing around for BO ticks.
Of course that seems to be few and far between during my play times.
Typically, if I join a pug warband on my RP I will ask the leader to fix the groups if they are messed up and give me some DPS to heal if I don't have any. If they don't, I just leave because it isn't worth my time or effort healing.

Re: Anyone else feel stuck to playing healers?
If you're doing RvR as a healer or tank and feel you aren't progressing in RR or Medallions enough, become a leader and set your group with 1 Tank + 1 Healer + 4 Sorcs/BWs.
Sorcs/BWs are able to easily get majority damage for the primary kill for medallion spamming, and you won't need a second healer because they're all pretty much backline (you can even drop the Tank for another Sorc/BW).
This mainly works in choke point standoffs (bridges, doors, etc.) - which is what half of RvR ends up being anyway.
Or, if you don't want to be a medallion hog in the WB by funneling your group with rDPS, you can always duo/trio and pick off solos/duos. Less roll competition, and if you're organized and using comms, its pretty fruitful since there is less splitting.

Solution: roll Ironbreaker and heal yourself
Nothing better than a good grumble after stomping them pesky orcs into the dirt.

Re: Anyone else feel stuck to playing healers?
Yup, that does suck. Part of the reason I stopped playing my Shaman and deleted my AM. Moved over to RP/Z as my main healers because at least they can make use of any set due to their toggle.covenn wrote: Part of the problem is that much of the best healing gear comes from RvR rather than scenarios. As a side note, when I DID run my Shaman through RvR to get his Anni, back when that was the top gear, I just specced him for Da Waagh Is Coming and followed warbands around solo spamming that. I got more medals and rr doing that solo than I did healing in warbands.
