By RR45 I managed to get 5-6 Golds, 4-6 Purples, and 2-5 Greens.
Had 3 Conqueror pieces (the most expensive ones, Chest, Helm, and Shoulders) prior to Lv 40. Just got a duplicate Chest the other day.
I'm very, very lucky. I do about a 50/50 split of actually playing a zone, and jumping in for 10 minutes before logging off before bed. An equal portion of my bags (Golds, Purples, and Blues) have come from the "Dip in, wake up to bag" process. The only time I play in RvR for an extended period of time is when I want to. If I'm just aiming for bags, I play for 10 minutes, assist with a few kills, and wake up to a Gold bag (hopefully).
Normally, I would say the system should not be that way, since it promotes exactly the above. However, I think the Medallion cost on Conqueror gear is unrealistic, so I don't consider it unfair. I would rather Conqueror cost 10% of what it does, but only allow players to receive bags if they a) actively participate in 100 kills in a zone or b) something else that can't be AFK'd. That way the time investment is still pretty high, so people aren't just handed out full Conq, but the people who put in the effort are rewarded and can purchase their full Conq in a timely manner (but probably not under a week). The biggest factor would be solo roamers. You get medallions much faster when you have no one to roll against you.
TL;DR: I'm way more lucky than most people, but having gotten 4 Conq bags (1 duplicate) by the time I was able to get 275 medallions, I think Bag-Snagging is the only option. Basically get 4-5 pieces from bags, and buy the 1-2 you're missing.

Exactly why I'm beyond frustrated, everything as stated above...

Re: Loot Bags and Contribution
My "main" rr70+ Sorc is now maybe getting just a tenth of the bags I used to get monthly during old system. Fine, I don't even really need anything at this point honestly, maybe I'll moan more when next set/bagworthy things release. Just hoarding white bag contents for luls. Doesn't matter if its a 1000 kills assisted in a 4 hours fight or a walk through zone with minor renown earned in 10 mins, a white bag in the mail shall arrive.
However now I can just lol around on my lowbie alts, do minor 15-30 min gameplay, earn minor renown and then wait for the bags for the minimum effort I put in, eventually I know I'll get better loots from having just turned online often enough.
So all in all, if you are putting more than 15-30 mins of your time into zone lock, hoping that the quality of contribution matters, it won't - helping your realm more or farming more kills doesn't matter, don't try to have a main char that you invest too heavily into.
Become an altoholic who does bare minimum effort contris and gets the same bags anyway. It's actually kinda nice, probably ends helping newer players out when they try out more chars.
But still, not sure how I feel when I aggregate my opinion regarding trying to do quality contributions on my main versus my spirit of altoholism.
Meh?

I don't know if that's luck tbh...Axerker wrote:By RR45 I managed to get 5-6 Golds, 4-6 Purples, and 2-5 Greens.

All the gold, purple and blue bags I got was the same way as you. I played, I needed to go so I logged out, then the next day I got a nice surprise in my mailbox.

Re: Loot Bags and Contribution
maybe contribution is bugged? I got 4 gold bags on my lowbie witch hunter in one week doing the same thing.

Re: Loot Bags and Contribution
So, I just tried the methods described above and didn't even get rewards for both zones I tried.. I give up. I was thrilled to find this server and was really enjoying myself playing and fighting the wars, but I shan't drive myself sick trying to upgrade while others simply sneeze and are fully geared, anamoly or no. As for the alt thing, well I suppose that's an alternative, but I was hoping to really focus building a char I was satisfied with. Maybe some time away will help, but that usually just lends itself to making it easier to never return....

When you say they didn't work, are you:
a) In T2-4 (not Tier 1 - It technically works in T1, but its a bit wonky)
b) Getting/Assisting with numerous kills (I always try to aim for at least 25)
Sitting at an objective won't give you contribution for bags. You have to be a part of the action. Not a substantial amount, but I usually aim for an amount where I feel I'm guaranteed a bag. I've been wrong before, and played for 30 minutes (with like 15 kills or so) and didn't get a bag. Other times I've played for 5 minutes (with like 50 kills from a bridge standoff) and gotten a bag.
I hate to word it this way, but you just need to know how to "work the system". Makes it seem like exploiting, but its not (at least I don't believe so, since there seems to be a contribution threshold and you simply need to pass it. That threshold does not get passed by not participating, so as long as you do your part and breach the threshold, you'll get your bag).

Re: Loot Bags and Contribution
Well, I've tried the "minimal contribution" approach: take a couple BOs, swing on some people, run solo, etc.. All and or some of the above in varying amounts, still yield white bag or naught at all. Really wondering if class isn't stacked into it somehow and possibly level, maybe just bugged, or perhaps just bad luck. After all, RNG is nothing more than casino, and casino always wins.

Re: Loot Bags and Contribution
With the new system I can usually feel what type of bag (as in is it a white or a blue+) I'm gonna get from a zone based on my contribution and my gauge on what everyone else is doing. I feel like most people who aren't getting good contribution are doing the whole zerging with a wb fighting back and forth between WCs - fight on BOs or at keeps; anything else doesn't count at all for contribution.
Also feel like people are undervaluing AAO... If you have 100% AAO you're all but guaranteed a blue+

Re: Loot Bags and Contribution
Hi everybody,
my experience from the past weeks includes a thing that imho hasn't been mentioned so far.
I am 99% playing RVR and entered T2-4 just after hitting 16 and kept looting many good bags when on lower levels.
I dunno whether contribution depends on level difference or not, but I got my first subjugator (2-hand) with lvl 18, with 20 I already had 2 genesis parts, the whole set with mid-20 and got three different conq parts plus all subjugator items when below 30.
I got like 30+ whites in the same time but overall very good loot, like a sum of around 50 bags. The ratio between zone lock and logging off before lock would be like 75/25 i think.
Now with 35/51 in the last maybe 5 levels the loot hasn't been much more than whites and some imperious warrants, so this behaviour may depend on hitting higher levels.
Same thing like in scenarios maybe, lower rank = much better numbers/loot.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience. (Mark Twain)
