Pick whatever is the most fun for you ~ play all classes atleast to level 30ish; most classes only start to make sense later down the road, especially the midget ones.

Once you picked what is most fun for you, make an effort to get a setup that allows you to perform your role and shine with your playstyle.
If you were to choose to play an dps RP... you see there is nothing wrong with embracing a midget in a dress making "pew pew" noises while clubbing over-emotional pointy-ears with your staff, but you really want to build and establish a proper supply line to cover your needs for popcorn ~ look out for people, preferably with hilarious personalities and funny voices, setup up a voicechat and start coordinating your "pew pew" noises with actual deeeps and heals, while someone guardbots along on /follow.

As long as you make an effort to get whatever you like playing most to work out, there is nothing that could go wrong - you shouldn't consider "performance" as long you pug, given that you'll ultimately judge headless chickens.
