- Play all classes thru T1 to find mechanic that best suits your own individual playstyle (good player > FOTM class).
- Modify game UI for better UX (enemy addon is your best friend!)
- You can join scenarios as early as lvl1
- Renown > XP
- Don't rush to 40. Better to take it slow, get to know your class and skills and gather renown. You can join T4 warfare on lvl16+ AND you get sweet bolster while doing so.
- Don't hesitate to ask in /ad
- log out in city / guild hall for improved rested xp gain
- Craft and gather as you play
- Unique armour and weapon skins can be found in PQs and quests
- Chapter merchants now have decent green items (better than renown merchants in most cases)
- before you rage ask yourself what you are doing wrong and..
- Have fun :)

if you roll destro, go tank or healer.
if you roll order go tank or healer. too many dpsers arund :)

level through pvp only dont waste time in pve. Is not worth it. As sson as you hit t2 (16+) go get a group and do some PQ they give nice moneys loot for purchase your first 50% mount.
go in t4 pvp once you are around 30, before youre basically just a free kill.

be polite, cool and do not be a power-player: take your time and enjy the game as it is :)

Get into the habit of playing with others, forming friends, join a guild and roam/queue for scenarios in a tight group. This is the best way to practice your class, to improve your team coordination, and to learn the in's and out's of PvP. You're just setting yourself up to fail if you insist on playing alone, and the community here is (largely) an amiable one.

there are no stupid questions, never be afraid to ask.

Roll two toons with a playstyle you like. I have a slayer and an IB. When I get frustrated on one I log the other.

Some have a Dessie alt that mirrors thiet order ( and vice versa) for this reason. I have been eying up a Choppa lately

write /ad to type in advice to ask anything that might be answered by something that counts as advice

you have 20 char slots, no need to main anything, you can just hop from one alt to another and switch sides according do mood, no one cares if you switch sides occasionally
don't play some char because others want you to fill that role, play what you enjoy and what makes you want to login, otherwise you'll quit fast

the game is focused on player versus player action, meaning the content are the players and the focus is on killing and dying. expect to die a lot, and learn more about how to die less with each new death. it takes years to become good and enter the same "skill level" as players who have spent years in this game, don't expect instant easy victories, but through teamwork you can still succeed.

****... I always knew I was doing it wrong...

@OP - Roll an IB, purchase a big hammer, smash some orcs. Most are easy kills. And its very satisfying to smash people with a giant hammer.

In all seriousness, the advice with the classes and the ''find good people'' thing are good ones. I'd add : don't shy away from PvP. Roll a character and get in there at level 1, run to the PvP zone (we call it RvR lake...) and fight. Then, queue scenario (top right of the UI). Don't **** around wondering if you understand this and that first and don't be afraid of dying until you are invited to an elitist guild... And since... there's about only 0 left, just never get afraid of dying at all. You'll figure out how to live eventually.

The only way people ''lose'' in this game, is when they start playing like wusses. Welcome to RoR !

I have noticed that the only time I die in-game is when I run out of health. Try not to run out of health.

It is helpful to tell other players how to play a class you have never played while in scenarios or ORvR. Avoid all discussions in any of the other open server chat channels as anything you say can and will be used against you in the Ban Appeals Forum.

All caps in SC chat, /5, /1, and /2 is helpful because without them, other players will not see your messages.

try any and all alternate specs on your preferred class, and then post up in the Suggestions forum ideas to make the sub-specs of your class as powerful as the main spec.

If you roll a Chosen or Knight of the blazing Sun, you will be forever known as an "EZMODE BADDIE" by all the really knowledgeable players because those two classes can't ever be killed and can basically 1-shot any other class in-game. Just don't. It's completely broken how easy those classes are and they are going to be hit with a huge nerf bat in Two Weeks™.

Order only plays RDPS and KotBS and DPS heals.
Destro only plays Magus and Tanks.
Rolling anything else is a waste of time.
