can u link me your balckguard spec you used till today? i am quite undecided about itdaniilpb wrote:Feel yourself self confident?
Try to play a tank![]()
That's what I always do with my BG.
Just find yourself a group or a friend dps and you will feel the weight of responsibility. Guard and debuffs management, punts - these things will make your tank life shine.
But again try to find a group because tanks are amazing to play mostly in group synergy and quite stressful in pug environment.

Re: PvP Tanks: Their Roles & Viability
I'm very much impressed by the sheer amount of feedback I go thus far; thank-you VERY MUCH, everyone!
I very much enjoyed what I've read, and it seems I'll be rolling a tank after all.
An utility-based tank does sound quite good, actually. I had my eye on one of the order tanks already, though I'm not keen at all on SM, to be honest. I'm not crazy about Chosen or Black Orc either on Destruction side, but Black Guard also sounds like an interesting choice. I've had a hard time pulling class-specific guides on youtube and whatnots. If anyone has links they want to contribute, this would be appreciated.
Since I'm already here, if you allow me to digress for a bit, I do recall someone telling me way back in the day that Warrior Priests were also good at dishing out damage. Is this factually wrong information or is there a measure of truth to it?
Once again, thank you very much for your patience.

I usually use this as a full tank - support build RoR.builders - Black GuardAsherdoom wrote:can u link me your balckguard spec you used till today? i am quite undecided about itdaniilpb wrote:Feel yourself self confident?

And this one for bruiser, dps tank RoR.builders - Black Guard
Currently I use second build with SnB.
2H build might require full 1st tree for all tactics and Crimson Death + Get Down but you must have BIS gear for it.

If you want to know about the viability of a DPS WP, I recommend you check out this link.
If you want a series of guides that pertain to playing an IB, I recommend checking out Volgograd's YouTube Channel.

Re: PvP Tanks: Their Roles & Viability
Problem with blackguard is that the only utility it has for large scale is Crimson Death, but it must be used with a 2 hander, and a 2h BG can't survive in large scale fights (and destro WB's have bad gas SH, dps zealot and magus for "snowflake" positions). So if you want maximum utility, take chosen/kotbs, if you want to mix utility and some damage, take BO/SM. Can't really say anything about small scale.archangella wrote:I'm very much impressed by the sheer amount of feedback I go thus far; thank-you VERY MUCH, everyone!

Re: PvP Tanks: Their Roles & Viability
Just a side note, I have found there is nothing quite as satisfying as forming a phalanx with other tanks in a broken keep doorway while waves of enemies break on your shields!
Re: PvP Tanks: Their Roles & Viability
BGs may be more desired in wbs after the chosen/kotbs rework. they make good bodyguards with their stackable armor buff, will/tough buff, shareable regen and absorb shield. i could see them working well with future melee squigs who will have some awesome aoe abilities but may be a bit glassy

Re: PvP Tanks: Their Roles & Viability
Something pointed out elsewhere is that dps tanks become the default melee dos class in pugs do to melee classes needing some organised backup.
I have noticed this with my slayer and Ironbreaker.
