Blackguard debuffs

As my Blackguard recently hit rr40, I thought I would present a reworked version of my earlier attempt at a proposal. I have left out a number of things. Here’s the new proposal.

IDENTIFY THE ISSUE: As opposed to other tank classes, who can apply their buffs/debuffs much more instantly/automatically, in order to apply all the buffs and debuffs the BG has to spend a lot of gcds and still in most cases the benefits only affect targets individually. In the case of buffs this can’t be changed easily, as the BG has a Dark Protector mechanic that implies that most of the buffs are individual. This is a class defining feature and it shouldn’t be altered imho.

In the case of the debuffs, however, there are no DP mechanic constraints. Still we see that most of the debuffs are ST. And yet one notices that some of the most interesting debuffs can be applied to more than one enemy at once. See Crimson Death and Furious Howl.

SOLUTION: The true nature of the BG is debuffing, and this is where he can be most helpful. The BG can’t buff the entire group, but he can debuff most or all of the enemy group. In my book, an AoE debuff that makes (for example) the enemy group 10% more likely to be crit is as effective as a 10% chance to crit buff for the group.
We just have to take the lead from the existing AoE debuff abilities that the BG possesses (Crimson Death, Furious Howl) and simply follow the example. I think this is the right direction, the original plan halfway developed. In short:

PROPOSALS: Choking Fury and Crush the Weak should be made into AoE abilities. This would be enough to make the BG more appealing as a group member, and would fit perfectly with the BG’s defining hallmark of the debuffing tank.

Declining. If other tanks can apply their buffs/debuffs much more easily, they will be dealt with in time.
