Thank you for the replies. the post is not purely about the highest 2h-tank dps, but the best overall tank including dps, utility, survability and so on.

It looks to be a challenge between BG and SM

BG is a mess to play as tbh.
Beside having the worst class mechanic of the game (with IB), you will need to do a lot of things before actual DPS (buff/debuff, hate managing).
For the same period of time, a SM would be able to throw 2 ether dance.
BG is a hard class to play, and not rewarding enough for its difficulty.

Hey, someone else gets it too! Spend 40%+ of your time just "building mechanic" to then actually do stuff.


As for best 2H Tanks. It depends on the goal.

Actual "Tank" I would say KOBS is up there. Auras both buff/debuff. Going 2h and Encouraged Aim gives everyone 10% more crit. You can also gab Vigilance which is HUGE for survival. Downside? Low Damage.

SM is another that I would propose. WODS is a "vigilance-like" move in that it gives you very very high survival as a 2H. You just dont offer AS many group utility benefits like KOBS does. Overall damage is higher, higher crit, good spirit/resist debuffs as well.

BG is probably best Destru 2H tank but its ULTRA clunky. BO as 2H is squishy. Chosen as 2H is worthless post CS nerf.


So I would say KOBS/SM are the two best 2H Tanks.

If you want to be more tank, less "damage" roll KOBS.
If you want more damage, less utility roll SM.

NOTE: if you have high ping you might be handicapped as SM. I live in NA and have 150 ping and had a hard time with stances since animations would show as "hitting" but I would be stuck in stance 1, spamming a stance 2 ability and it would take a second to realize the ability I used actually didnt hit, even though it showed the animation that it did. The issue for me was that your snare was stance 2, so I had to open with something else that DIDNT slow, to enable me to snare to then be able to play with high ping. So if you have higher ping, this would default you to KOBS.

If you swap Dark Protector/Oathfriend properly, you have zero issues with building mechanic.

But lacks AoE snare like a BO/IB/KotBS/BG, a superpunt like IB/BG/KotBS/Chosen, and even a KD if you go for a Khaine/Hoeth spec (for the strong double spirit debuff).

If we talk about dmg dealing with 2H, SM leads here followed by BO. As You pointed SM doesnt posses any of so valuable CCs(AoE snare, single target punts, or knockdown in 2H dps spec, so specing SM other than DPS is just waste of class.

I hope this will change a bit when patcher goes out.
