I would like this, I think it wouldn't be terrible if they were moved to regular core abilities either.
The only path I play on my Squig is Stabbin, and I only use cut ya every once in a while when i'm in tanky gear.
making them benefit from ballistic would be great, because stacking strength talismans/gear is not good for stabbin spec.
It would also be nice if get em would benefit from ballistic out of squig armor, and strength while in.
Side thought, putting a cooldown on Kaboom and reducing the CD on SA to 4 or 6 seconds allowing you to switch in and out more effectively

'White Lions are definitely the kings of melee burst dps, which can be inherently squishier than ranged burst dps (because you're up in someone's face, like a man, not shooting lazers at them from 100 feet away)'
Are you saying Han Solo is not a man?

As far as bombing potential goes the melee squigs are - as you mentioned - only good for AoE pressure either with UF or my favorit fast M4 bomb - Though the latter requires Strenght in Numbas tactic to really be potent. But no one in their right mind goes this way anymore mostly due to Shoot Thru Ya being total easy mode when combined with Expert Skrimisher. Which is weird when you take into consideration that Stabbin' is suppose to be the AoE tree. Melee squigs are rare and will hopefully return one day and a small change like this that effect 3 abilities should be welcomed, seeing as 2 of the abilities are simply put a waste of AP/gcd due to 1) their lackluster dmg, 2) lack of synergy when it comes to stancedancing.Gobtar wrote:Lowering the CD would definitely promote more stance dancing, but I 100% agree with you that if this change were to be made Kaboom! needs a 10s CD. I just dont want a slap dash fix leaving useless abilities still useless.Foxbeep wrote: Correct me if I'm wrong but you're saying you're against a cooldown reduction for SA?
I think this compromise is acceptable.Foxbeep wrote:
Those are good points to make and maybe a compromise should be reached, with Cut Ya and and Dont Hit Me becoming usable in SA and only mirroring Stabbity to ballistic skill.
I really hadn't looked too much at the SH melee tree until the last few days when trying to refine assault and it did surprise me just how different they were. I don't have a SH at the proper level to really play with the path of stabbin' so I can't provide all that much anecdotal or playstyle information but I just might level one to give it a shot.
Melee Squig herders are a ton of fun. They have alot of problems, the only thing they are good for right now is bombing undergeared pugs, Bad Gas is not enough on it's own to warrant bringing a melee SH, in tier 4 it's less of a problem because they have access to their heal debuff, so they can get that up pop M2 and do nice amount of AoE pressure, but this is at the expense of having a proper SH that would be able to bring alot more damage to the table.
I am anxiously waiting on the patcher and Torq's rework of the Stabbin' tree and I think your suggestion with further changing the melee abilities outside SA are justified due to the fact that right that the only ability worth using of those 3 is Don't Hit Me! for the interupt on casters and not for the damage. I am not saying they should hit hard, but these abilities are - as far as I can see - in the same boat as Drop That!!. Abilities that were suppose to be working as intended, but in practice hits like a wet noodle.

Probably just a nerf.
I played a melee squig for a bit... it was okay. A bit annoying since you don't have a gap closer and can't mount up. I don't think it's worth the time and effort required to rework a mastery that very few people would bother with.

It's almost like people don't bother with it becuase if is so underwhelming next to rdps herdercatholicism198 wrote:Probably just a nerf.

The goal of a skill tree is to have multiple viable abilites and playstyles
Melee herder vastly underperforms next to rdps herder and is underwhelming at best
So this whole "it's not worth it" ideology makes no sense to me
