Re: Terrible framerate
I think most of the problems this game has was the terrible engine it was made on. Also, this game is very CPU dependent more than GPU. Being a super old Windows XP game it only uses one core and by default uses a very limited amount of ram.

Re: Terrible framerate
Thanks for help guys, I`ve tried everything you said, but framerate is still the same. I will be checking forums, but i don`t have much hope.
Re: Terrible framerate
Last chance is changing in bios the graphic card - 970 as a default. I'm not sure your CPU got build-in graphics.

Re: Terrible framerate
and checking if you used the gpus dvi/hdmi and not the boards vga connection on the back. (YES it did happen to my brother!) ^^

Re: Terrible framerate
Also would be helpful if u could test your PC configuration in other game and give us details.
I`m telling this cause recently I had as well 970 gtx and at 2560x1440 I had constant 99 fps, in warband fights drops to low 20-30 but it happen to everyone. (my CPU is i7 6700 tho)
I did some digging regarding your CPU which is i5-750 right?
While doing tests in other that RoR game can you check your CPU temperatures? Do you have any non-stock cooling?

Re: Terrible framerate
I have an i5 760 (overclocked to 2.93GHz)/12GB RAM/old GTX470 and have little problem playing with all effects turned up, even in major T4 keep battles. I do use EVGA Precision program which allows me to adjust my GPU clock and fan speed, but all I do is turn up the fan.
One thing I do also have is a super fast SSD for my C: drive where I have only Windows and this game, and use a standard HDD for all my other files.
There are many recommendations on this board for getting better performance from your setup, but since your CPU is almost identical to mine and video card is far superior, I think you just need to do some tuning and adjustment. I don't use a FPS meter, so I can't tell you what I run, but in the open everything is smooth as silk at full textures and settings, and only slows a bit in large keep takes. Still playable, unless the server itself is lagging.
That said, I do periodically lock up, CTD, and get poor performance, but it is rare. Just know that it does happen.

Re: Terrible framerate
Truth is, that even with the best specs around, you will still get worse FPS on ROR than with the BIS parts from 2008-10 since the game is most likely optimized for technlogy from that point of time.

Re: Terrible framerate
its not optimized for any century actually
