Warping and player mispositioning

Is there something that I can personally do to improve this problem in terms of my game configuration etc. etc. or is this a server side issue I can do nothing about? People teleport/warp, because the their location isn't being updated and sometimes people's location is shown inconsistently forever ie.: their character is one place, but if you want to hit them you have to be in a different place.

Yes, you are welcome to this hitlist. I REALLY enjoy being chased across a whole zone.

I imagine the best you can do is try to speed up your own internet connection. I think it impacts NA players more and melee players especially.

Having a higher bandwidth connection doesn't directly improve latency, per say. However, you could try decreasing your latency within your LAN by prioritising packets sent to your local IP and if you're not already doing so, using wired connection.

The obvious influence to the factor is the distance between yourself and the server. Other than physically moving closer, you won't be able to do much. I live very close to the server in retrospect to others, being from the UK. My average round trips range from 18ms - 21ms. Being further away obviously would yield higher timings.

Depending on where you are connecting from you can sometimes find a better, faster, or more stable connection via VPN , if for whatever reason your ISP is sending your connection through weird areas.

I have done this before as I connect from Japan, and sometimes it seems to like to randomly chose the longest route possible. But the improvements you can get are typically minor. Say going from 350 to 300.

But nothing is going to help you get below 100 if you are on the other side of the planet. That is just how it is.

I pretty much gave up on melee since what's 5ft on my screen is not actually 5ft away. Even on my engi most nights by the time most melee show as being in grenade range 65ft, I start taking full dps rotations.

It is just unfortunately how it works if you are far from the servers.
