Its like there's some law that des have to run with chosen bo mara choppa melee trains for the following months. Cant we just do away with it and make the game more interesting like it used to be in the lower tiers where people could gear multiple toons so you didnt see the same group comp time after time after time. Yes there will be some that stick to the fotm but gear grind just enforces it like its mandatory.
Order is spamming shitloads of rdps since months, Chosen and Kotbs have been the go to tanks since ages, mara is the best mdps in game, shaman/Am have become the strongest healers in RoR etc etc...
Do you really think this has anything to do with gear?

Things that kill the game for me far more than Mara/Choppa groups.

- Watching Runiex consistently get gold bags even when he is in the same group as me, yet I get nothing
- Seeing people with multiple Conq sets already, I thought it was supposed to take significant time to obtain this gear?
- Having 2000+ personal orvr deathblows since the new patch, yet only having 275 Conq medallions and no Conq pieces.
- Having 3x Genesis shards for the WL disrupt Genesis jewel and no other Genesis pieces
- Watching people actually being rewarded with gold bags for running from a BO to the warcamp for 6 hours running supplies.
- People only logging on at NA/low population times to exploit the low player numbers, to increase their chances of getting a gold bag. Actively avoiding prime time because the chances of getting gold is too low should not be encouraged.

Yes genesis is annoying but not getting enough conq medallions after 2000 db is your grp fault esp if you have people winning bag after bag. How about these people start to not roll for tokens anymore. That's what we do. We most certainly have less kills in our small grps but from our guild I am done with my conq stuff for ages (without getting any bag). The other dd needs about 3 tokens the healers about 100 to 200 (they need more pieces than the dds).

Personally I think that endgame rewards should be mostly cosmetic/vanity stuff that reflect the status of the players. Some stuff everyone seen on npcs but could never get or titles, trophies etc. That plus availability of T4 (with starter pack gear) for everyone.

T4 is what most people (who played WAR) want, let's be honest with that.

If we're going after higher level gear sets every few months there's gonna be a huge gap that RoR population won't handle.

Classic grind for BiS main progression won't do this game any good because it's 2017 outside, we're not the same guys we were 10 years ago.

Roadkillrobin earlier said that stalker gear days were the most popular in history or RoR and I'm pretty sure this has something to do with availability of then-endgame.

P.S. Currently it's not about merc vs dominator it's more about ruin vs conq/dominator because that's what most fresh T4 characters have as there's not enough population/action in mid tier for them to get renown ranks.

But there's another problem: restrictive measures won't herd anyone into mid tiers because a) they want T4 soon b) doing good in T3 doesn't yield anything for their big T4 grind that is coming ahead.

IMO the easier it is to hop into action — the better. It's not 2008 anymore. I love seeing messages "I'll switch to my tank/healer" and I believe it really helps the game with its current population and representation of certain roles.

When RoR was the moast active i think Stalker was the highest gear in the game. Something you could complete in 1 day easily. Players were also much more creative in what gear they slotted in aditional to Stalker. Gear on AH had much higher demand. Now we basicly get instructed what to slot as more and more items gets class restrictions and more definite BiS gear gets released. Everyone will end up slotting the same gear, same specs, same tactics if game dictates it to much. That creates a static enviroment that people get bored of and leave.
If all gear in the same tier is created for varity instead of power creeps and stop making it months long grind for it i think people would enjoy the diversity the game can offer instead feeling like it's just a grind for your main.

This is exactly what happened with the rr81-100 patch on live. People left coz they didn't want to do the grind again. And other people left coz there was no variaty in the gameplay as 1 BiS setup and the grind was to large to get diversity from playing alts.

Don't do this mistake pls.
So much yes! It's fun to try out new builds and different playstyles, build alternate sets etc. vs. playing the class in cookie cutter spec, with cookie cutter gear on autopilot.

Devs have a level of control over the game that allows them to tweak classes and I think that's fantastic and should be taken advantage of more.

I remember loving class rework patches because it was like hoping onto a somewhat new char and discovering some intricacies. The Shaman and AM changes are really fantastic here and a great example that could be extended.

i hear a lot of Good arguments about keeping ppl the same in regards to gear and thus having same oppertunities But not the same outcome. Imo i like this aspekt of the game where you have few strong Champions on the battlefield and for every strong player you probably have 5-6 weaker players. This creates an exciting dynamic and more levels of depth imo.

Made my day. I have multiple shards on almost on every character, quite a few fragments, lots of cloaks, but I haven't seen one Genesis Aspect in my life.

Per the subject I think people are completely wrong about this topic when it comes to RoR. The people who play on this project are simply warhammer universe fans who play for the roleplay/nostalgia/universe whatever else. Gear/other MMO stuff doesn't really come into the equation that much, except when other content is lacking so gear can be used as a placeholder to keep people playing at a higher activity than they would commit if there was nothing to grind.

If melee trains rule the game, how is it that most scenarios in T4 have order running a majority of ranged dps and relatively few mdps?

As for Genesis, it's a lot about luck. I have 4 pieces, miss only cloak. Won maybe 4 pieces that I already had before, somehow keep missing on getting the cloak piece.

As for mara/choppa FOTM melee trains, they have existed always. Because people cry about WE/WH being able to kill people in smallscale setups, they will remain useless in group play and any attempts of changing them in a way to give them group utility will just result in someone crying "but he killed me in 1v1!"... because obviously this game is balance around 1v1 encounters.
