BW and other Order classes. Mara don't cares whom to tackle (anything in range) under a melee train with a couple of sorcs. It's merely an abuse.

Without talis and pots/linis you can forget about certain specs. You'll never get the stats on basic gear to make alternative specs that can compete. Dumbs the game down from what it was.

I wouldnt mind seeing things like double/triple pot go though. Get rid of the rvr pots and have a single hp/ap pot so people werent healing to full every few minutes.
Walid point. But "get rid of potions" is more deep idea, then it might seem to be.
Especially in the light of ridiculous amount of heal from 100rrs, which spoils overall gameplay. And should be restricted. "No potions" is possible approach.

I remember rare fights with no healers at all on both sides. Man! That was a blast. WAR was shining. :o
This is another approach. More radical one.

This all must be discussed. I hope, it will.

I can see that.

Stat pots and lini were just another layer of customization. Being able to vary characters on how you wanted.

I agree that health pots and ap pots hurt the game. It removed a lot of the disadvantages of some classes. Not having to manage ap, ap drains not having as much of an impact and squishy classes being able to pot through focus when heals or guard were stripped. Not having double pots would bring that into better balance.

Pots were absolutely crucial for solo non-healers and I'd definitely like them to remain ingame.

You have a choice between greater customisation or better balance. It will be interesting to see if the community has the courage to make sacrifices.

It would make the game much more dull and make certain spec trees useless. Some classes already have 1/2 very underpowered trees. You may aswell just remove trees altogether and have a single set of gear. Character personalization and refinement is a key mechanic in mmos otherwise you might aswell go play a moba.

Mythic tried that with the dumbed down WoH and it didnt even get out of beta. Try telling sm players they can't stack strength and dps. When in lore its a elves glass cannon melee units or that all doks are stuck spamming groups heals forever. Changing specs is what keeps people playing.

I don't disagree with you, but I think that customisation done in the wrong way (you've outlined some of them, such as +AP regeneration items) will break the underlying design.

Well I think another interesting question is, if it is possible or even desirable to many to build on and change the old game.

Would it be possible for the current devs to compensate or counteract the loss of customization from talismans / potion buffs, by tweaking / changing armor stats and releasing new sets on via a new merchant. Keep stat points in line with other same level sets, but give different stat / set bonuses.

That might be a way to encourage build diversity without sacrificing balance with over the top stat stacking.

Think along the lines of the annihilator, ruin, and blood lord sets. Same item levels / values, different bonuses and stat mixes.

This ^^^^^^ im up fo more limitation that do not prevent customistion, that's would be fine, not being able to use 3 heal potion ( ya 3 ) but just 1 would be ok, removing wouds liniment that SERIUSLY no one use as liniment but only as potion in critical situation ( or remove the heal part of it just let it increase max healt with out heal).
About ap potion not sure about it, until sov some classes could need that, maybe it should be change to a regen ap and not to istant ap boost, healer should suffer that less, while melee a little more
Also if we wanna talk about balance some of you talk about doomflayer and warpforge .... well the problem with those sets it's their itiem level that is 15+ or more for each piece than what they should be, sov it was max itiem level 65 and it was rr 80 set, plus each pieces had a different leve that let it equip ( and so far a different itiem level)
Only weapons were itiem level 75 and they could be used from rr 75, this is what we should look for sense of balance in future.
