[Witch Elf] Leveling woes.

I find leveling as a witch elf to be incredibly tedious, so much so that I've become convinced I'm doing something wrong. It's been a long time since I played live so I don't really remember my leveling experience back then.

My grievance:

I am a level 12 WE currently. I seem to have difficulty fighting any more than one same-level mob at a time. 2 mobs I can usually handle with very little health at the end. Afterward there's a minute or so of standing still waiting for my health to come back. That minute is usually enough time for all the mobs I've killed to respawn making it difficult to make progress into a camp to kill named mobs and such. Is this kind of ability and wait time just standard or can I improve it?

My theories:

My gear isn't up to par. I don't know how much of a difference gear actually makes but maybe a lot? If that's the case how do I get better gear with PQs being broken?

Is there a particular leveling spec that's ideal? I have all of one spec point but it's worth asking.

What I'm after is a leveling experience with as little downtime as possible before I move on to kill my next mob. Is that even possible?

In short no, the best way is to find mobs of equal level or 1/2 levels below you and farm them, that way you will not only kill quickly but also not suffer a large portion of health loss. This is because your stats will be better than theirs and you will mitigate a lot of their damage.

Constantly upgrading your gear helps a lot too, but you are also playing a light armor class, who's primary role is single target, stealth attacker, you can not expect to farm mobs as well as other classes.

It's not the easiest class to level killing mobs especially with funky mob aggro and spawn times.

Once you get to 23, one thing I did was spec into the middle tree for the tactic Kiss of Doom. Slot that and Bathing in Blood to help reduce downtime between mobs.

At 27, I switched over to the right tree and slotted Increased Pain along with Frenzied Mayhem. If you have some RR, put that into melee crit. If you have Scenario weapons in those tiers get the melee crit ones. You are essentially hitting twice as hard on crits, meaning mobs die much quicker.

Stay on top of gear upgrades. Any upgrade to armor helps. Find some low level armor talismans to slot, it helps.

I also kept Confusing Movements Morale 1 slotted while leveling. Don't forget to always use disarm when you parry as well, it helps.

It's a struggle in the early levels, but once you get in the 30's, the third tactic slot and availability to spec more helpful abilities smooths out the leveling pains.

I just lvl my WE via PVP. Every once in awhile I'll join in on a PQ if one is nearby.

Level in pvp. Way faster. 40/50 in one month. And took it really easy.

Don't level WE in PVE solo.

WE is one of slowest if not THE slowest solo PVE grind class and at same time it's better than average (speed wise) for levelling in PVP.


So do PVP instead of PVE.

If you want PVE then find either tank&healer or high level character to grind/boost till lvl 16. Then go middle tier and PVP.

few hints: armor pot + armor talis in armor/weapons if you are rich enough
if you don't have money even on armor pots (or they are not on AH), learn butchering and apothecary. Do what you purposed to do - to kill single target, obviously best XP is from champs and mobs with few lvls above you. If you don't have party, preload M1 (100% parry for 7s) and than kill champ. imho stacking parry or learning tactic for parry doesn't help alot here. WE is too squishy and out of AP pretty fast.

1 more tip, do t3 rvr influence in human area for belt with resists. it's probably best belt ingame, even on live. imho ofc.

If you are levling a twink to 40 you are bad..
If it is your first character and pve level a WE you are in the wrong game
